i dont expect it every play at all. but i dont like when i see calvin not doubled and hes not thrown to but instead we get a cheap little throw. i hate it even more when it turns into a punt.
You aren't going to score on every possession, it won't happen. Punts will happen and they throw the ball down the field plenty enough, a lot of it also has to do with the offensive line, they have to give the time to let things like that happen.

Calvin is the third most targeted WR in the league...He gets plenty of targets.

I know... Just saying that's part of football, there's a lot of factors of why things happen. There's going to be plays called that don't work, there's going to be WR's missed that are open at times. There's going to be times where he has to get the ball out quick because of pressure etc.. You don't want him forcing things, that could be bad. They get a lot of guys involved and that's good. If you want to triple cover Calvin, alright then, I'll throw it to Pettigrew, Young, Burleson and others and burn you that way.

We don't baby him. You guys expect to throw deep balls all the time. That shit doesn't work every play. If you notice when ever we do throw deep it usually is a big play, but thats because the other team isn't expecting it. You have to have some variety to your passing game. Not just throw deep every play.
For the amount of vertical threats we have on this team, we do baby Stafford.
Obviously we can't throw bombs every play, but the main reason in those comebacks games that we did actually comeback is because we started to throw the ball more than 10 yards up the field in the 2nd half. Linehan calls so many plays that should basically be considered a run because the pass is that short.
Linehan underutilized Stafford's arm.

Lol, Lions defaulted into the playoffs.
I like that one.

Shit if that was the case, we shouldn't have even played through the season eh?

Short passes open up long ones... Start the game with a bunch of bombs and watch what happens.

Thank you.

You have to open the game up by running the ball, completing short passes and working the play-action game. That's how it all starts to come together.

I'll give credit to the Lions for what they did to San Diego this past week. They flat out destroyed them. If they can keep that intensity moving forward then I think good things will happen for them. I still feel they may be a few pieces away from making a pretty big run, though.

He's trying to control Stafford.. As he is still young and inexperienced. That's the right thing to do.

He thinks that he has the arm to put it threw a concrete wall -- by making him throw short balls it will set up that big play that is more important. That is much more scary from a defensive standpoint if Stafford is working the short, intermediate and long ball.

That's what I pretty much said to them. Can't just throw long balls a shit ton. Linehan has to do those short passes that are pretty much runs because that is our running game pretty much. Linehan is an great playcaller, imo. Sometimes he has some things im kinda unsure about, but overall dude has a great gameplan each week. If we could actually run it would allow him to do some much more too.

Jaguars have placed 12 DBs on IR and still have a top 10 defense, dope.

I'm not retarded. I know that short throws open up the long bombs.

I'm not even asking for long bombs though, just more passes that are longer then 15 yards.
The reason we went through that streak of losing was because we started getting too conservative with our passing plays. We are clearly a much better team when we throw the ball further down the field. You watch any game when we came back it was because we started to actually throw the ball down the field because the conservative passing in the first half was not working.
I wish I could find the stat, but I know when watching the game last week they said something like Stafford is among the league's lowest in passes of 20+ yards, if I'm not mistaken (and maybe I am wrong considering I can't find it). With his arm and our receivers that should not be the case at all.

Also, with Calvin and Matt's arm, setting up the long bombs with the short passes is not really all that necessary.

Shoutout to those who called me dumb for saying the Lions would be a playoff team.

Big day to be a Lions fan, proud as fuck for the team.
At least the Lions weren't expected to be the worst team in the NFL this year and would be lucky to win one game.

It's not madden, four verticals won't work all the time. You have to pick your spots to be aggressive, or else it will bite you in the ass... and if it doesn't, then certainly the other team will know what's coming when you actually need it later in the game.

I know this. I'm not asking for four verticals every play, smh.
I just want us to be more aggressive a little more often. Cause when we are aggressive we play much better.

You can't be anymore aggressive than you were against the Chargers, you can't ask for anymore than that. They played very well and the Chargers couldn't do anything to stop them.

If they played like they did against the Chargers consistently, they'd be really hard to beat. Sometimes being too aggressive leads into more mistakes. I mean they are averaging nearly 30 points per game and they throw the ball around a ton. Just gotta take what the defense gives you.
