lol at 12 mill for him.
idk how you can say that
he's a great pitcher

go look at his numbers. solid.
2nd half this past year was excellent
and again, 1 year deal. lol for sure if it was 3 or 4 years.

this past season he made about 13M (i said 15 up there)
look at some other pitchers.

Barry Zito: 18.5MM
Carlos Zambrano: 18MM
John Lackey: 18MM
Derek Lowe: 15MM
Jeff Suppan: 12.75MM
Aaron Harang: 12.5MM
Gil Meche: 12MM
Jake Westbrook: 11MM
Bronson Arroyo: 11MM
Kevin Millwood: 12MM
Ryan Dempster: 13.5MM

he's better than all those pitchers except maybe Zambrano if Z is like he was after his anger management stuff.
and maybe John Lackey, but it's marginal. definitely not worth 6MM more than Hiroki

and 1 more time, 1 year deal. not bad at all.

Fangraphs said he was worth 17MM this past season

All of those pitchers you named are overpaid

and Fan Graphs says Shin Soo Choo is worth 20 million dollars..

Choo had an excellent season

everyone is either overpaid or underpaid

i mean seriously, is ARod really worth 30M? no
but this past season if i had to give a 30M contract, it would have been to a Josh Hamilton or Miguel Cabrera

Kuroda was really good this past season.
i'd rather have him at 1/12M than a multiple year deal because of his injury history

trust me, he's not being overpaid. i'd be the first to criticize the deal

i get it though. he's our 3rd or 4th starter and he's getting paid like a #1
but when you look at what other pitchers his caliber got, Dodgers have no choice
he would have gotten 12M anywhere

I don't think they understand that he's a #2 starter, maybe a #3 starter. Most of the #2s around the league are being paid similarly, many more who don't deserve it as well.

you're right
he's a pretty good #2, but on the Dodgers he's 3/4 because of kershaw and billingsley

and the other 4M is a bonus

it's an 8MM deal, with a 4MM bonus that will be payed in 2012 and 2013 - from Jayson Stark

South Korea won the Asian Games Gold Medal, Choo was apart of the team and earned a military exemption :D He hit like .570 with 3 HRs and a bunch of RBis in a small tournament.

Manny seems to like Toronto a lot. Apparently he'll be visiting T-Dot this weekend again.

You ridiculously overpaid for Benoit, I wouldn't be happy about that.

You are right, he wasn't one of the best set-up men in the league last year or anything.

And that was the only good year of his career. He has one year wonder written all over him.

Came off a major injury better than ever. He's basically a new player than what he was.

Oh, even better, he's had injury problems in the past, you should feel much better about this signing.

The Yankees overpay for everyone, and Yankee fans are always happy with the off-season, so Rip can be happy because he doesn't pay the bills.

It is ironic that a Yankees fan is arguing this with me eh? lol
If they sign him, it's a good deal and they had to outbid the competitors.
