That makes sense as well, I haven't been paying too much attention to this off-season. Kidd knows for sure he won't win anything in Dallas, so coming to NY could be good for him.

Kidd will probably sign with the Knicks, now he cares more about the money than winning.
That is how almost everyone is now, except for a few players like Artest and such.

An informed source has told HOOPSWORLD that Jason Kidd intends to return to the Dallas Mavericks for a three-year, $24 million contract.

Kidd has indicated to the Mavericks and New York Knicks that he'll mull over their respective offers over the weekend. The Knicks are said to be offering Jason a guaranteed three years at the Mid-Level Exception (MLE) which works out to be approximately $18.1 million.

Barring a surprising change of events, Kidd is expected to notify the Dallas on Monday that he'll take their offer which would start at approximately $7.25 million for the upcoming season.

Dallas has also reached an agreement in principal with center Marcin Gortat for a five-year MLE deal (~$32.3 million).

Because Marcin is a restricted free agent, the Orlando Magic will have the opportunity to match. The Mavericks are counting on Orlando passing on the lucrative offer for a player who would come off the bench behind Dwight Howard.

Sources indicate the Magic may very well decide to match the Mavs offer despite Gortat's desire for a new home. Despite the success Orlando had in the playoffs, a source close to Marcin indicates he craves the opportunity to start and play major minutes.

When pitching Gortat, the Mavericks promised the Polish center a major role. Should the Magic pass, word is Erick Dampier would immediately go on the trading block.

Dampier's final year is not guaranteed based on incentives. Functionally he has a $12.1 million expiring contract. Equally the Mavericks continue to shop Jerry Stackhouse whose $7.2 million contract has just $2 million guaranteed.

With $19.3 million in contracts to send out, Dallas would be in a good position to land an impact player needing a new home. That list might include players like Amar'e Stoudemire, Rip Hamilton, Jason Richardson or Carlos Boozer.

Of course Gortat probably wouldn't be happy if pushed to the bench by Stoudemire or Boozer but by then he'd have signed his contract (tough business as it is).

Kidd's flirtation with New York stems from a belief that he could help draw LeBron James as a free agent in 2010.

The Mavericks, having given up Devin Harris to acquire Kidd from the New Jersey Nets, simply can't afford to let their veteran point guard go.

Expect the decision to be announced after the July 4th weekend.
Good news, stay in Dallas Kidd, please

The Raptors have offered free-agent forward Shawn Marion a four-year deal worth more than $32 million, according to the Globe and Mail.

The deal could be worth as much as $34 million, according to the report, and is longer and more lucrative than the three-year, $21 million offer Toronto was reported to have made to Marion.
Looks like Hedo will be a Blazer.

The Magic have contacted free-agent forward Rasheed Wallace's agent.

Orlando general manager Otis Smith was in contact with agent Bill Strickland on Friday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Wallace doesn't have a plan to visit Orlando, but Smith said that "it was possible" at some point. The general manager believes that Wallace would be a nice "fit" alongside Dwight Howard, but said "it just depends on what Rasheed wants to do."

Via Orlando Sentinel
If Sheed goes to Orlando they could play with a normal lineup and still be deadly.
Jameer/VC/Shard/Sheed/Dwight plus a S&T with Gortat for Bass is still possible.

Richard Jefferson is good friends with Kidd and said he expects him to play in MSG this year, because of who could come next year and his kids live in NYC

By the way I asked Chris Douglas Roberts on twitter how Terrence Williams looked, and he said

"he looks good(pause). Really polished & confident. All around player. Not one dimensional.

What about T-Will's jumper? Is it better than advertised?

Alright so the Hedo signing leaves how many teams with CAP?

Detroit, Portland, Toronto (of they resign Marion) are all out of the running.

That just leaves who? OKC? and it seems they rather Millsap over Lee...

Could that mean Lee accepts the offer we made him? and I dont see/hear many suitors for Nate... maybe he takes the qualifying offer?

I would be happy with both aslong as Kidd resigns with Dallas.

I doubt they go after Lee after trading for ZBo, and the owner already killed their offer before.

But as long as we get a S&T for one and the other walks Ill be content, but to keep both, or even one is a big win for us.

Dez actually I think the Knicks have a good chance at pulling off a sign and trade and getting something back. The Heat/Magic may actually be able to afford him too

Yeah Im not going to ask for too much lol a S&T with Lee is most likley.

With Nate he'll either walk or re-sign, I dont see a S&T with him unless he and Lee are apart of a deal.

I see him walking for sure, wasn't their initial offer 2.9 mil? He could probably get the MLE

Yeah the 2.9 was the qualifying offer, but I could see someone giving him the MLE too.

Cool read here.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Player A will turn 24 in July and last year averaged 18.1 points and 7.5 rebounds a game. Player B will turn 25 in August and posted numbers of 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds a game last season. They’re both 6-foot-11. They’re both 240 pounds.

If you’d choose Player A over Player B based on those thumbnail sketches, it would be by a nose. If you took away the stats and put it to a fan vote based on reputation, chances are Player A would win in a landslide.

Player A is LaMarcus Aldridge. Player B is Charlie Villanueva, and the point and rebound totals from last season were that close even though Villanueva played 10 minutes a game less than Aldridge, 27 to 37. If Aldridge were to hit the open market, teams would be talking about him right after Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudemire as premier young big men. A closer look suggests there just isn’t that much separating Aldridge – often compared to a young Rasheed Wallace – from Villanueva.

What's funny is if the Lakers got Charlie for the MLE, you would be creaming your pants right now.
