HAYNESWORTH TO THE ‘SKINS

Multiple members of the media are reporting that defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has agreed to terms with the Washington Redskins.

The news comes from both Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean and Adam Schefter of NFL Network.

It’s a seven-year, $100-million deal with an incredible $41 million in guaranteed money.

The maximum value of the package is $115 million.

As we’ve previously said, the fact that the Titans and the Lions weren’t major players in the pursuit of Haynesworth tells us all we need to know; both teams have decided that Haynesworth isn’t worth the money.

Otherwise, the team with which Haynesworth spent seven seasons or his former defensive coordinator (who now is the head coach in Detroit) would have stepped up to the plate.

But maybe Haynesworth won’t go soft now that he no longer has to worry about money. Maybe, as he recently said, he’ll be motivated to prove the naysayers wrong.

And maybe he won’t lose his cool and step on a guy’s unhelmeted head.

And maybe he won’t leave practice and come back with a pipe. (Not a pipe for smoking crack, but a pipe for cracking skulls.)

And maybe he’ll learn how to obey all posted speed limits and not cause accidents that require 25-year-old kids to get hip replacements.

And maybe he’ll learn how to fly, without a plane.

And maybe the Redskins finally will learn that this isn’t the way to build a championship football team.

Kerry Collins agreed to a new contract with the Titans on Friday after leading Tennessee to an NFL-best 13-3 record last season.

Coach Jeff Fisher had said he wanted the 36-year-old veteran back. Collins had said he wanted to play again in Tennessee.

New York Times is confident that LB Michael Boley could very well be a Giant by the end of the day.

From the sounds of it, if everything goes well, Boley could be a Giant by the end of the day.

Boley, 26, has played in all 64 regular-season games since being drafted by Atlanta in the fifth round of the 2005 draft. He has 52 career starts, but he lost his starting spot this past season. Reports indicate Boley is better suited in a more aggressive scheme than the defense the Falcons ran under new head coach Mike Smith this past season. The Giants love to get their LBs moving downhill quickly, so Boley could do well if he winds up playing for new defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan - the Giants’ LBs coach for the past four seasons.

Well, Bart Scott just signed with the Jets 6-yrs $48mil

Linebacker Bart Scott and the New York Jets agreed to a six-year deal worth $48 million on Friday, according to Scott's agent Harold Lewis.

Earlier in the day the Jets offered a five-year, $40 million deal. When New York upped the offer by a year, Scott chose the Jets over Baltimore.

Scott arrived at the Jets facility early Friday morning to meet with his former Ravens defensive coordinator, Rex Ryan, who is now the head coach of the team.

Scott has played seven seasons with Baltimore amassing 433 tackles and 16 sacks in his career. His best season was in 2006 when he made the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro team. In that season, he had 103 tackles and 9½ sacks.
