they'll need one soon though and dont have draft picks. they'll need to swing a trade sooner or later and hope they can snag a player like felton the other year.

Nate McMillan is expected to receive interest from Mike D'Antoni about joining his staff with the Los Angeles Lakers as a potential defensive assistant, according to a source.

McMillan was fired as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers last season.

D'Antoni had Mike Woodson working as his defensive assistant last season with the New York Knicks.
so mcmillan will be the new lakers coach in two years. thats good news. hes a coach you could build that team around.

Young star point guards are a dime a dozen these days.

I'm interested to see what kind of offense D'Antoni runs. Obviously, the high pick and roll offense with Nash and Pau/Dwight would be D'Antoni's bread and butter... but where does that leave Kobe?

pau doesnt fit as well as dwight. i can see kobe being the one who runs the pick/rolls and as the shooter. pau will need to be dealt sooner or later.

a point guard will come along sooner or later. they wont need a star point but who knows who will be around after nash.

i just dont expect dantoni to be around more than two years.

What? Pau fits much better than Dwight. Pau has the ability to pick and pop. Dwight is more explosive rolling to the basket but Pau's game mimics Amare's way more than Dwight's game. Kobe may run the pick and roll but it won't be efficient imo. He's not as good of a passer as Nash and well... Kobe chucks.

D'Antoni runs 2 offensive plays. The first play is a simple P&R with three spot up shooters. This will probably be run by Nash and Dwight. The second play is a pick and pop with one player on the weak side post and 2 spot up shooters. This will probably be Nash and Pau with Dwight in the post. I can see this play working very well since Pau is a great passer.

Kobe turns into a spot up shooter. I don't think he'll be very happy with that.

In the short run, the one big advantage that D'Antoni has is that his offense is simple to adopt. Phil's triangle would have taken longer to perfect but in the long run I have no doubt that the triangle would have worked better for this team

Kobe will be fine. He said last year he washappy to get sessions because he never had a real pg who would just give it to him in his spots

He always has to work hard for points. He'll love this

They're gonna play Jamison more for better or worse I think

And I really think pau must be dealt soon to get some players

Probably not this season, but offseason

I think it's a good move for the short term. I think Brown was vastly under-utilizing Nash. Now with D'Antoni there, Nash should get the keys to the offense, moreso than he did under Brown.
But let's be honest, Kobe isn't going to be around much longer than Nash anyways.

Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Nash played what, like 1.5 games under Brown?

I think the Lakers made a mistake of not having the "next man up" before they fired Mike Brown.

So when they did fire Mike Brown, then they started talking to Phil Jackson and they realized that his demands were very steep. I'd bet he wanted a small portion of the franchise, like Magic got.

So now they are trying to sell to the fans that D'Antoni was the guy they wanted all along when I think we all know that he wasn't.

This team is in a weird spot, they have at most probably a two year window. Kobe is gone after next season, Nash is gone after next season, Pau Gasol is 32, why would Dwight stick around? Do you know who has the longest contract on that team? Steve Nash, he's the one player they have under contract for the 2014/2015 season.
