Tough times for everybody’s favorite point guard. Everybody but James Dolan, that is.

More than six months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus, not exactly a catastrophic injury by any stretch, Jeremy Lin continues to cite problems with his left knee for his early struggles with the Rockets.

“My speed and my explosiveness and my agility (are not) there yet,” Lin said the other day.

So it was hardly ideal circumstances when the ex-Knick made his Houston debut against the Thunder’s Russell Westbrook. even if Lin had two completely healthy knees, that’s a mismatch, going up against one of the NBA’s top athletes.

Predictably, in his first action since injuring his knee last March against Detroit at the Garden, it got ugly in a hurry. Lin made only one shot and couldn’t stay with the fleet Westbrook, who went for 19 points in 16 first-half minutes.

While some Rockets coaches have confided that Lin needs to work harder to improve his play, he points to his knee as the chief problem.

He's only averaging 5 and 5 this preseason while shooting 21% from the field.

i made him an allstar in 2k. 21/6. HE WILL TURN IT AROUND

really though, i hope for his sake its something he can fix. he got paid so now he needs to work on it. he doesn't seem like someone who wants to settle so im sure hes going to work hard.

Not nearly as good as people think he is.

well they overpaid but sadly thats what needs to be done to "steal" rfa's. i don't like backloaded contracts at all. he isn't as good as a lot of people think but that doesn't mean hes bad by any means. hes a starting claibrr point guard.

He is not a starting caliber PG
It's hard to say it right now, but as the season goes on and on I think more people will begin to agree.

To me, it's just way too much of a Cinderella story. I mean, dude was waived by the Rockets day before the season began, only to become "Like Mike" a little more than a month later, then he signs a good sized deal with the Rockets again? IMO, he was a guy who was extremely blessed to have everything fall into place perfectly and it made him look better than he actually is. Remember Raymond Felton?

raymond felton was good, that system just made him better....that happens with a lot of different players.

while that is true, it's completely different

The Knicks pre-Melo played P&R basketball, with Amare and Felton doing the main work. When Amare was well covered, they hit it out to Gallo or WC and they did work. Felton will not be successful, however, in the Melo era, because its a different style

Melo ball is a set of isolation basketball for the ball handler, and then for the bigs to get the boards and put it back up or hit the open player (usually the SG and the SF/PG that didn't start the iso)

Melo was the iso starter until he went down, and then Lin became the iso-starter in the new offense.

Lin played off iso ball, and in result scored a lot. He won't have the same success in Houston, and Felton won't have the same success in NYK

You could have included Lin in that post though.

Lin's whole schtick, while fun for a while, was go to the right real fast, collide into somebody, fling the ball up the backboard as he's falling into the Knicks City Dancers, and hope it goes in (pun absolutely intended)

I think the thing with Lin is, he's active. This is out of left field and I doubt anyone did, but did anyone watch Dan Dickau when he played that one year for the Hornets? That's Jeremy Lin, a very rich man's Dan Dickau. He's going to take the court every night and play like mighty mouse. So the question is, can he last 82 games playing that way? I'd have to say no. So when does he start wearing down? And just how much does his play suffer?

I hope the best for him in Houston, but they'll get what they paid for...

Wonder whats the culture is around him, among his teammates...

Around 15th or so best point guard in the league. That's my prediction.

Rondo, CP3, Deron, Russ, Kyrie, DRose, Parker, Nash, Lawson, Jrue, Curry, Jennings, Jeff Teague, Wall, Dragic

That's 15 guys that are 100% better than Lin. I'd take other guys over him too

I'd take Lin over Jeff Teague and Kirk Hinrich :iono:
