The Vikings released kicker Ryan Longwell on Monday, nine days after drafting former Georgia Bulldogs kicker Blair Walsh.

“To all in Viking Nation. Can't thank you enough for your cheers over the past 6 years! You've been awesome to me and my family. God Bless,” Longwell tweeted, in effect announcing his release.

Longwell connected on 22 of 28 field goals in 2011 and his 78.6 percent success rate was his worst in his six seasons with the Vikings. Over his 15-year career – including nine with the Green Bay Packers, he connected on 83.2 percent of his field goal attempts.

“Ryan has meant a great deal to the Vikings organization both on and off field over the past six seasons,” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said in a statement. “We wish him all the best in the future and thank him for his service to the Minnesota Vikings.”

Longwelll had three years remaining on the contract extension he signed after the NFL lockout ended last summer. He was due to make $1.75 million in base salary this year and his cap number was $2.6235 million. However, $2.625 million of his $3.5 million signing bonus will be accelerated onto the Vikings’ 2012 salary cap.
He will be remembered as a Viking. I can't believe we has so much faith in an average rookie kicker...

How many times did the Vikings lose last season? 13 times I believe? Saints have lost 11 times in the past three years. I believe I just found your joke, the real one, 2 more losses in a single season than a team has had in three seasons?

37-11, 2 division titles, 3 playoff appearances, 4 playoff wins, 1 NFCCG win, 1 SB win in three years?

How many losses did the Vikes have last year? 13 losses? Vikes had 2 more losses in one season than the Saints have had in the last three seasons?

Now there is your joke.

Way to edit your post, and the joke is how funny the saints are derailing.

and yet we'll still probably triple the Vikings win total next year lol

I have to admit though, I have family in Minnesota that was down late last week. It was kind of sad to see my cousin Dylan asking my Uncle if the Vikes were leaving Minny for LA.

So close.

I wonder what the bounty on that ring is.

Also,

It is a true accomplishment to beat a team who is rebuilding.

Where did I ever say anything about beating a rebuilding team?

:duhfuck:

But for the record, if the Saints are derailing as you say they are, wouldn't it be a accomplishment to triple any teams win total? Or were you just reaching and exaggerating?

Meaning beating our record...

and no Vikings still suck, we won't be relevant for a couple of years.

Maybe you are, but you are acting like the Lions are a better franchise then the Vikings. Which is a obvious lie.

no im not. the vikings wont be an relevant team for a while though, hell theyll probably be a different city soon enough(which would suck for the record). and before you go thinking im so "pro-detroit" i still have a lot of doubt that they can even make the playoffs again this season.
