Could of probably just as easily went to Alex Smith, but well deserving for Matty Franchise too. CongratsDetroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has won the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award, according to Mlive.com. The award, voted on by the Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers Association, will be officially announced on February 4.
Stafford, 23, threw for 5,038 yards and 41 touchdowns (97.2 QB Rating) this past season. He played in just 13 games total in his first two seasons, finishing each season on the injured reserve. This season, however, he started all 16 games.
