Well the lockout was to make it a more "fair" or "even" league...this trade is the exact opposite of "evening out" the league.

Luckily I heard all parties + the league will revisit the trade, but an answer today is unlikely.

The owners and the league fucked that up. They just wasted the entire length of the lockout circle jerking each other and in the end accomplished jack shit. The day the lockout officially ends you have two of the leagues biggest stars forcing their way to where they want to play. NBA and owners are basically fucking the Hornets over for their own shortcomings.

I don't see how this screws the Hornets...this screws LA. The Hornets worth would instantly drop at least 20 million if this trade goes down.

And I love how everyone is still pissed over Stern...sure he is the head guy, but this comes from the owners...

Read the article I just posted and see if you still don't put this on Stern. Words can't describe how far off you are on this DJT.

This doesn't screw the Hornets and Stern isn't responsible? Holy fucking shit...

And people are saying the NBA won't trade Paul anywhere now...thats rubbish.

I'm betting this trade will eventually go down, but even if it didn't the Hornets would still end up trading him...

people are stupid.

No, if this trade doesn't happen which GM's are going to want to deal with the Hornets knowing Stern would just say "nope, not happening" after hours and hours and HOURS of negotiating. Plus if the Hornets don't trade Paul by the 31st the likely hood of ANYONE (LA and NY) trading for him are all but out the window.

Not to mention one of the reasons he gave for vetoing the trade was because he doesn't want players to dictate where they are going, which is bullshit. By that logic he will veto the Dwight trade today too, which we all know will not happen.

Alex Kennedy: I've talked to a number of agents today. They all believe that David Stern will eventually allow the CP3 trade to go through. We'll see

Yeah, I see this trade going down eventually as well. I just hope Dwight is in NJ by then.

Any GM that isn't the GM of the Heat, Knicks or Lakers would be stupid to think that.

The NBA will not block Paul from being traded anywhere, its the fact he was being traded to the Lakers...

I heard one of the reasons this trade wasn't allowed was because Dwight to LA for Bynum + would have followed behind. That would have sucked, but Stern is the guy who made the league this way anyway. Dude needs to resign and get the fuck.

and:
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
As for Dan Gilbert email obtained by Y! Sports, timestamp shows he didn't send to Stern until after 10 PM ET. Trade already had been killed.

Yeah I saw that tweet. So why not Stern let Paul go, and just block the Dwight trade? Maybe because he doesn't own the Magic?

But I agree, i've thought Stern should be out a long time ago.

But didn't the Dwight to NJ rumors start up before the blocked trade news popped up?

David Stern is such a dumbfuck. Chris Paul holds more value in New Orleans? He leaves now or he leaves at the end of the season, good god David Stern.

A source directly involved in those talks said Friday morning that the Hornets were not planning to appeal the nixing of the deal, as ESPN reported Friday. Rather, the Hornets will try to see if sweetening the current deal in some way would make it more acceptable to the league, which currently owns the Hornets while it seeks a permanent owner who will keep the team in New Orleans. The Hornets also have several other possible deals on the table for Paul, and could go forward with one of those if teams involved in those deals make enhancements to their offers, the source said.

Aha...it'd be interesting to see who steps up. Could it come back to be a good move for the Hornets?? Possibly.

I think Stern is just saving face by telling Demps to get a better deal.
