It's the Lakers, the trade is going to happen regardless... First time ever the league hasn't catered to them, but the trade will happen. Regardless of how dumb it is.

I'd be fine with it had the Hornets received Bynum instead of Lamar Odom, but we all know that won't happen because they need him for Dwight Howard..

If you and everyone is saying how bad this deal is for the Lakers, why do you and everyone want it done?

Here's the real answer: You know you fleeced them.

edit: and the deal will happen, it's the Lakers, they get what they want.

As Hornets restart trade talks, directive from NBA is to get better, younger package, to ensure long-term success, I'm told.

What a concept... I don't understand why this is so hard to grasp.

Also, here's a question Mexi, because apparently the Hornets are doomed without this shit deal:

The Cavs lost LeBron and got nothing in return. Them being terrible and making an easy trade decision with the Clippers resulted them in getting Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson. What would you rather build your franchise around for the long term, Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson or Lamar Odom, Luis Scola and Kevin Martin? The Cavs getting nothing in return, turned out to be a pretty damn good deal.. A lot better then 3 aging role players.

Union has told NBA if suitable CP trade not made by Monday, it will pursue other options, including litigation, sources say...
This is such a mess.

A lawsuit would do nothing.. David Stern and the other 29 owners, own the Hornets. They have the right to veto a trade of their own team.

Pretty much that and the new CBA agreement.

I think a new deal will be completed before anything like that could even take place.

ESPN sources: Hornets/Lakers/Rockets cautiously optimistic they'll have reworked CP3 trade to present to NBA perhaps as soon as Saturday

You should be thanking Stern for nixing the deal, because the Hornets are going to get more out of this trade.

Eh, I'm happy the Hornets are going to get more but if Stern told several parties that this was purely Dell Demps call and the league would not intervene he should have stood by that and let Dell do his job the first time.

I get the feeling they're gonna send the same trade back, with the Lakers giving up Devin Ebanks and a 2nd round pick.

Me too, some Hornets fans are all happy saying "we're going to get more!"

I honestly feel this entire thing is just Stern trying to save face. Telling the teams "go back and include some young players and a few picks and call it a day." It's not like any of the teams have young players that will REALLY help a franchise.

Though there have been a few reports saying Houston would put one or two young players in the deal.

The Lakers should at least be taking back Okafor's contract imo.
