I said this on another site, and I'll say it again.

We hear every year that the Lakers are going to add another superstar, but they end up adding a Steve Blake type player. This year won't be any different.

Also, let me requote my self, 91M in salaries this year the Lakers have. 33M over the cap. Those cap penalties are going to break the Lakers owner lol

Mexi says we all need to stop being "Laker haters" or something like that, when in reality he's probably looking at it the way he is because he's a Lakers fan and he thinks everyone will want to play for them, and the NBA will make a cap exception for them.

they have a few years to fix it

and their new TV deal is gigantic. 200M per year for the next 20 years

im a crazy laker fan, but im not making this stuff up

Bynum and Odom could provide fairly quick salary-cap relief for a willing team. Bynum is in his last guaranteed season with the Lakers, who hold a team option of $16.1 million next season. Odom is due to make $8.2 million next season but can be bought out for about $2.5 million.

It makes even little sense since they're not under contract long term. Why would you trade your star for two guys who are about to hit free agency?

salary relief
but they have the option to keep bynum and odom or trade odom

whatever happens, it'll be a 3 way trade or 4 team trade

i read the jazz may get in. Al Jefferon or Devin Harris

Or they could trade him to the Nets, get back Brook Lopez, a 1st round pick and ditch Turkoglu and still get the same cap relief.

Or they could trade him to the Clippers and get back someone like Eric Gordon and Minny's 1st and take Turkoglu and still get the same cap relief.

So it's a decision between cap relief or cap relief and pieces that are going to be around to build your team for the future.

Tough decision there, not.

So you're trading Chris Paul, a guy who is going to expire at the end of the year, for salary relief? That's counter productive.

How are you going to fix it? Kobe will be taking up 52% of the current cap in the next two seasons, making more than 30M. Pau is on a long term deal making close to 20M, and they aren't amnesty waiving him. Bynum will get a new huge contract. Artest is still on the books for more than 21M. The list goes on and on and on.

By the time they fix it Kobe will be retired.

Salary relief you don't need, Hornets have the 6th lowest payroll in the NBA and that's with Chris Paul.

Since when does Dwight seem to be dead-set on NY or LA?

I agree that the NBA is so fucked up that star players are forcing the hands of teams to make bad deals, just because they'll only play in 2 different locations.

It really is. The league should just contract all teams that aren't in markets like Chicago, New York, LA, etc etc etc because nobody wants to play anywhere else. That is what it is coming too.

Hopefully with the new revenue sharing and cap system (two things alot of people do not understand, cough cough large market fans) will help a good bit. Mexi's comment about the Lakers new TV deal really proves that point that some fans don't understand it.
