mexi youre a nut if you think most players are great and bynum/odom is a great package.
when i say great, im not being really technical like you and everyone else

and what would be a good package then?
Bynum is 24 and is probably the 2nd best center in the league. he'll put up 20/10 in his sleep as the first option

i posted a tweet from an agent yesterday who said Odom is so valuable because he's cheap and because the hornets or magic will flip him. teams like OKC may give someone like James Harden (speculation) or another young player for him

Bynum is also about as durable as Greg Oden.

he was better this past season and had a great playoffs

i understand being scared about his legs, but what else is out there? it might be him or letting dwight or paul go for NOTHING

and bynum has been working out like a man during the lockout. he's going to be in great shape

it's a risk, but it could be worth it

personally, i wouldnt be mad if the lakers kept him. i think he's going to have a great season coming up

I'd be real curious to see how Bynum would play if he and Dwight switched spots.
He does not have the skillset to prosper with no teammates around him like Dwight does.
I mean Bynum to me is a product of having great teammates. Not to say he is a bad player, but it is hard to deny that.

It's not going to be him or nothing, it's him or another team's trade package which is better for them than Bynum...

how is having a super soft touch at the rim, great shot blocking ability, good shooting motion, good free throw percentage and pretty good mid range jumper a product of his great team?

he's a really good player

like what?

teams are saying they'd "rent" CP or Dwight, but would they?
the reason this stuff is in the news is because they're trying to scare the other teams that they only want to be in LA or NY and so no other teams gives up a king's ransom for them

Lol really? Just from the Hornets side there are a number of teams that have said they are willing to trade for Paul and try to convince him to extend with them, and then there are teams that would trade for him if he signed an extension. Some of those players are:

Steph Curry
Monta Ellis
Dorrell Wright
Klay Thompson
Ekpe Udoh
Eric Gordon
Eric Bledsoe
Al-Fariq Aminu
DeAndre Jordan
Minny's 1st
Kevin Martin
Louis Scola
Kyle Lowry
Patrick Patterson
Rajon Rondo
Russell Westbrook
James Harden
Serge Ibaka

and there may be some I'm leaving out. All guys that could potentially be traded for Chris Paul.

I just don't think if he didn't play with the likes of Kobe and Pau he wouldn't be as good.

I don't think he could handle being the 1st or 2nd option, like he likely would be in Orlando.
Kobe and Pau make the game a lot more easier for him.

This.

Dallas said the same thing last season about Melo and never went through with it.

i dont see many who are BETTER than Pau or Bynum or Odom

perhaps more attractive because of age, but not better players right now

a team in win now mode would give up something for him

cant do it now, but the spurs probably would have done George Hill for Odom

something like that

the thunder are one of the few teams that are win now and the future. no need to trade harden for odom.

Well there is the biggest problem with your argument.

Why would the Hornets or Magic be interested in guys like that when if they trade their stars they are essentially starting a rebuilding process?

Your telling me if the Hornets could pick out of Steph Curry and Pau Gasol they'd pick Gasol over Curry just because he's the better player right now? No way in hell.

I'd say with MAYBE the exception of Scola the Hornets and Magic would be more interested in all of those guys on that list before they were interested in Pau Gasol. The Hornets have already said that Gasol being the centerpiece of a deal wouldn't be ok.

Rebuilding teams aren't trying to swap players, they want a package back to rebuild their roster

Trading for Pau does nothing for Orlando or New Orleans because they're too old to build a team around, Lamar isn't a player you can building around, and you can't build a team with Bynum as the centerpiece because he hasn't proven he can stay healthy.

Face it, the Lakers simply don't have attractive pieces for rebuilding teams and there is a 0% chance that CP3 or Dwight end up in a Laker uni via trade.

but if paul doesnt want to sign long term in oakland, why would they trade Curry?
of course they'd take Curry

im talking about the field being narrow because of the extensions
no team is going to do what NJ did and trade for a star without knowing 100% they're staying
