One thing I don't think people think about much is that if we don't have a season, next years FA class could look like this (unrestricted and restricted):

Chris Paul
Deron Williams
Dwight Howard
Russell Westbrook
Steve Nash
Chauncey Billups
Monta Ellis
Ben Gordon
Paul Millsap
Blake Griffin
Leandro Barbosa
Tim Duncan
Ray Allen
Jason Terry
Jason Kidd
Nazr Mohammed
Marc Gasol
Jamal Crawford
Jeff Green
Caron Butler
Tyson Chandler
Arron Affalo
Nene
DeAndre Jordan
Shane Battier
Mario Chalmers
Kris Humphries
Marco Belinelli
David West
Jason Richardson
Thaddeus Young
Aaron Brooks
Grant Hill
Marcus Thornton
Nick Young
Josh Smith
Marvin Williams
Kevin Garnett
Wilson Chandler

and I could keep going...

IIRC the NFL CBA was going to drastically change the rookie pay scale. Maybe my ignorance is showing but it doesn't seem as big of a deal in the NBA

Very disappointed Kawhi Leonard is listed among the plaintiffs. Cmon man you haven't even set foot on an nba court
Rookies are the main guys in this because the players think the rookies are being held out unfairly and that the rookies have more of a shot or something like that.

No tax in Delaware. You see a lot of big companies with headquarters in Delaware.
This.

Two people who have been briefed on the NBA's strategy said there remains "optimism" that a deal with the players can be struck in time to start the season no later than Christmas. And the league and players may already have started the process of returning to negotiations.

The NBA is said to be disinterested in starting the 2011-12 season after Christmas. Since it will take 30 days from an agreement in principle before the first regular season game can be played, formal discussions between the two sides would need to be recommenced soon.

"I don't know that there's an appetite for a 50-game season," said a person familiar with the league's thinking.

One source said that there have been back-channel communications between the two sides since the union's disclaimer of interest, but a top member of the players' legal team said that no attorney representing the NBA has yet to reach out.
I find this entire quote troubling. No appetite for a 50 game season? GTF.

I'd rather have any games than no games. It would be better just to know the lockout is over.

But I don't think the sides are close enough to get a deal done by Christmas...
