Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson was late to the party this year as he held out for big money. His wait paid off on Sept. 1 when he signed a four-year, $53.5 million deal with $30 million guaranteed.
However, those big bucks haven't paid off for the 3-3 Titans yet this season. Johnson has rushed for 268 yards and one touchdown this season. In Sunday's 41-7 crushing loss to the Houston Texans, he only took the ball 18 yards on 10 carries.
"Sources have told Titans Insider that Johnson's conditioning when he ended his holdout and reported to the team was perhaps not as good as it needed to be, and that that conditioning issue could be a factor in why the running back has been having problems getting going this season," according to the site.
The team was last in the NFL in rushing at the start of the day, according to the Insider, and it didn't much to change that Sunday, rushing 53 yards on 15 carries.
"I feel like I've been back," Johnson said, according to the Insider. "I feel like my conditioning and me missing camp, I can't say that's the problem with the running game."
