I'm not pointing out the entire series, I'm pointing out his performance in the playoffs and mainly this series. There is no way you can say his fielding has been among the best this post season. He has dropped a routine pop fly, dropped an easy line drive, and made other fielding mistakes this series (eg. missed a rolling ball and had no play at home). Then his performance at the plate speaks for itself.
Avila is a brilliant catcher. No one has ever called him a great hitter and hence why he's always at the bottom of the line up. He is essential to this defense and there isn't a substitute on our bench that is better than Avila defensively. Austin Jackson on the other hand isn't playing well on both sides of the ball. We have a perfectly good outfielder and hitter in Don Kelly on the bench. I don't care that he may not be as fast as Jackson but he is still pretty fast and his BA and OBP, I would bet, would be noticeably better than Jackson's.
