Last month, former NFL receiver and current ESPN analyst Cris Carter questioned Detroit’s Calvin Johnson, saying he’s not an elite receiver. Carter later backtracked, and Johnson brushed it off, but Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford hasn’t forgotten.

On Twitter today, Stafford noted that Johnson has two touchdowns in all three of the Lions’ games this season, and he asked whether a fourth two-touchdown game against the Cowboys on Sunday might be enough to impress Carter.

Stafford’s tweet: “Does anyone think 8 tds in 4 weeks will change chris carters mind about an “elite” receiver? #megatron.”

Carter himself owns the all-time NFL record for consecutive two-touchdown games, with four in a row in 1995. If Johnson ties that record on Sunday, one would think Carter would reconsider his opinion that Johnson is only great in video games, not real football.

Or maybe Johnson will need to break Carter’s record, with two more two-touchdown games.

How ?

I am stating Stafford = a nobody who is only know'n for holding the clipboard

Carter = Top 5 WR of All Time

Stafford should just STFU and worry about the playoffs.

The way you said it wasn't very clear thats "how?". Stafford isn't a nobody. Didn't know a Number 1 Overall Pick and a captain on the team is a nobody. Holding the clipboard, he was injured if he wasnt injured he would've been out there playing. And Chris Carter isnt a top 5 WR of All Time...

LOL, he is a nobody due to his injuries. He has to prove he can play.

Hating on Carter ? LOL.

This has nothing to do with Stafford. Why does Stafford have to be a better player than Carter to point out a wrong statement that he made?

Career Stats

Carter: 1101 rec, 13,899 yd, 130 TD (234 GP)
Moss: 954 rec, 14,858 yd, 153 TD (202 GP)
Owens: 1078 rec 15,934 yd, 153 TD (219 GP)

and if you calculate it so Moss and TO both played 234 games like Carter, they would have had respectively: 1105 and 1151 receptions

TO and Moss>Carter

Typical 701 just throwing out stupid shit cause he can't talk about anybody being great on his current team.

It has more to do with Calvin Johnson then it does Matthew Stafford.... Stafford is just sticking up for #megatron, pretty much saying he deserves a little more credit.

It's not like Stafford is saying he's the greatest QB in the NFL or anything like that, so I'm not really sure why it has been taken to this level with Stafford, all he's doing is sticking up for his teammates. Sometimes people like ESPN analysts open their mouths a bit too much and deserve to eat crow...
