Speaking to fellow game commentators Mike Breen and Mark Jackson on ABC, Jeff Van Gundy questioned the cohesion of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and wondered if it will work in the future. If the two superstars can’t figure out how to complement each other he better, Van Gundy suggested the Heat explore alternatives.

Said Van Gundy: “I think that Wade and James, going forward, they have to evaluate: Is that the best compliment they could be? Or should they make a play for Dwight Howard using one of those two guys, to get a more balanced team? That’s for the offseason.”

They won't get split up, but I kinda think they should.

The first guy being moved if they do split up the 3 is definitely Bosh.

They won't though, so it really doesn't even matter. They'll just try and plug the right players around them.

With no cap space, thats the hard part. They have to find no name guys or very underrated guys that can break out for them.

That's what you got to work with though man. You gotta live with what you chose, and they wanted the marquee players who want boat loads of cash, so they got them.

The only way they do this is if they hit a rookie and get lucky, or someone takes a serious pay cut I guess to come to Miami, lol, which is slim.

Depending on the player yes. Some guys that are kinda on the borderline, they could take a paycut.

LeBron for Dwight would be epic haha. Even though I hate LeBron i would just love the aftermath of that trade.

Not many players in the NBA would make this kind of move, though.

I think many will. Playing with Bron, Wade, and Bosh, not to mention they just made the finals. There are lots of players who like to hop on teams when they play well like the Heat.

Despite the fact we all agree Van Gundy's notion to trade their core is unreasonable, I do think his assessment that Lebron and Wade have and will have trouble playing cohesively in the future is valid. Since day one, people have had doubts whether or not these players truly complement each other and that will be a criticism I think this team will face as the years pass.

It would make zero sense to trade one of them away after they made the finals in their first season together.. And it's not like they got dominated in this series either.

Exactly, we were in every single game with a Big 2 and a half in the NBA Finals

If LeBron stops being passive and plays like himself this series, we win it with ease and it's probably a sweep

But he didn't so what does that say about him?

Also I thought this would be a good idea for them anyways. TBH I think Dwight and Bosh in the paint COULD be more dominant than a Wade-James wing combo.

Breaking up big 3 doesn't mean just cutting one of them though, it means trading one for a player that fits them better. They need a better PG and C to win a championship, and it's going to be hard to improve in either of those areas if the new CBA doesn't have an MLE
