The Sporting News' Russ Lande believes free agent Matt Moore is "perhaps the most intriguing QB available this offseason."
"I believe he has talent to become a very good starting QB in the NFL," Lande added on Twitter. "I was so impressed that I am even more shocked that they would use the #1 pick on Cam Newton." The bulk of Lande's film watching was apparently from 2009 as opposed to 2010. A former scout, Lande has a reputation as a bit of maverick, and he's certainly on his own here. We've grown skeptical of his QB analysis after recent claims that Matt Hasselbeck is still a "high-end QB" and that Carson Palmer boasts a "very strong arm."
The guy did help the Panthers get a few wins in 2009, but he struggled and lost the starting job to Clausen. I can't see anybody really bringing him in to compete.

Yeah, there would have to be some pretty weak QBs for him to compete for a spot...but there are a few teams with just that.

Neither is John Beck or Grossman lol.
Beck swears up and down that he can be a starter.

Rex spends his days drowning his sorrows in a bottle of Jack.

Is it a coincidence that as Smith fell last season, so did the Panthers QB's?

I think it was mutual

Clausen was trying to learn the ropes after just being thrown out there. Smith wanted the ball all the time.

Clausen never trusted him after a time when Smith begged for the Ball, Clausen threw it, then Smith wouldn't go down, tried to reverse field and fumbled.
