No I'm saying Derrick is the 3rd best PG in the NBA.
So then you're saying Paul > Rose, which is why I called you a homer, because you called me a homer for saying Rose > Paul, so nice last post...

End of discussion... Rose is the better basketball player. Paul and Deron are better playmakers/defenders, your prototypical point guard.

I just don't see how anyone can NOT root for this guy. He's the definition of a professional. He's a soft spoken, down to earth guy who is appreciative of everything that has happened that lead him to where he is. I mean, he basically gave credit to everyone but himself in his MVP speech. I have never seen an athlete that is as successful, and globally recognized as Rose be so humble at the same time. I love this guy. I actually almost cried when he got around to his mother in his speech yesterday.

I'm saying I can't be a homer if I'm saying a New Jersey Net is better than Rose too.

How can you be a homer if you think a player that plays for a team that you aren't a fan of, is better than another player?

Paul > Deron > Rose

I root for him, I like him. I wouldn't have driven 45 minutes to get his autograph if I wasn't a fan of his. But he isn't the best point guard in the NBA, maybe he'll continue to grow and will one day get there, but right now he isn't the best.

Many people might not be a fan of his because he's .. well .. apparently kinda dumb. His soft-spokenness could be interpreted by many as being kinda slow.
He cheated on his SAT exam and erased Memphis' trip to the NCAA finals from the record books. This can't be good for the college system, and really he's a player who should have been going pro straight out of high school, if it wasn't for the madatory year after high school.
He might not have been the only NBA player who cheated, but he happened to get caught.

While I'm not huge on his personality, I obviously like his game and you cannot deny the quick progress he's made in the few years as a pro.

If it's MVP worthy is anyone's guess, but I don't wanna get into that again, he won it.

He's quiet not dumb...always has been that way. I got high school games of his when he was a junior and abcd camp dvds and he barely says anything. He's painfully shy but he's getting better at public speaking.

Derrick also wasn't playing in the league with a prime Nash, KG, Dirk, and Kobe.
And LeBron didn't play with a prime Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Oscar Robertson. WTF is your point?

That LeBron had more competition for the MVP award when he won?

I'm pretty sure Rose beat out LeBron himself for the award this season, along with the best center we've seen since Shaq. He also put everyone's preseason MVP prediction, Kevin Durant, in the backseat. Not to mention players like Dirk Nowitzki, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, and Amare Stoudemire all made huge impacts on their teams this season.

Honestly if I had a vote, I would of went LeBron still.
But certainly well deserving himself.

Rip, please explain to me how LeBron James (with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh playing 153 games) is more VALUABLE to the Miami Heat, than Derrick Rose (who was without Boozer and/or Noah for 57 of 82 games) is to the Chicago Bulls. If you remove LeBron from the Heat, they're still going to be among the best in the East, Wade and Bosh is actually an excellent duo. If you remove Rose from the Bulls (and they still have the injuries), the probably don't even make the playoffs. If Boozer and Noah are healthy, they maybe get the 8th seed with Deng as the leading scorer, who knows, they probably miss the playoffs too.

Take a look at the previous winners, many of the winners were still part of a playoff team regardless if they played or not.
LeBron is the best player in this league, and it just goes to show because the Cavaliers were an absolute joke this year, continuing to prove how valuable he is.
Look at Amare and Melo, sucked really.
Wade and Bosh is just about the same talent level, if not worse. Without LeBron they are probably a 6th seed.
He is obviously still extremely valuable. I don't care how good the team would of been with or without whatever players.
