Take a look at the previous winners, many of the winners were still part of a playoff team regardless if they played or not.
LeBron is the best player in this league, and it just goes to show because the Cavaliers were an absolute joke this year, continuing to prove how valuable he is.
Look at Amare and Melo, sucked really.
Wade and Bosh is just about the same talent level, if not worse. Without LeBron they are probably a 6th seed.
He is obviously still extremely valuable. I don't care how good the team would of been with or without whatever players.
LeBron is obviously the best player in the league, but this season, he was not more valuable than Derrick Rose. You say the Heat are probably a 6th seed without LeBron, well the Bulls aren't even in the playoffs without Derrick.

You don't care about how good the team would of been with or without whatever players? How do you determine how valuable they are to the team then?

The way I see it, how valuable you are is defined by what you bring to the team. Rose brings the Bulls from an 8th seed/team out of the playoffs to the #1 seed in the entire NBA. LeBron (in your words) brings the Heat from the 6th seed in the East to the #2 seed in the East. End of discussion, Rose is more valuable.

If you're going to argue anyone, argue for Dwight. Without Dwight the Orlando Magic are a complete joke. The only reason I can't say Dwight deserved it more than Rose though, is because the Magic underachieved drastically, while the Bulls were big time overachievers this year.

You even said it yourself, LeBron won MVP last year, leaves for Miami this season and the Cavaliers become a joke. If Rose were to leave the Bulls next year, they go from a title contender to a lottery team (just like the Cavaliers).

And before some idiot comes in and says I'm saying Rose is better than (or even equal to) LeBron... No. LeBron James is the best basketball player in the world. I always say, if you put Derrick Rose's attitude and drive into LeBron James you would have the most scary athlete in the history of sports.

I just don't think how valuable you are should be solely based on how bad your teammates are.
You even admit LeBron is the best player in the league, which means he brings the most to a team every night.

Really the award has always been given to the best player in the league, on one of the better teams in the league (hence why I said Rose does indeed deserve it). Can't think of many instances when it was actually given to a player who was indeed most valuable to his team, otherwise guys like Granger should be winning it. I mean, where would the Pacers be without Granger. etc.

Well, it kinda goes hand in hand, because if you have excellent teammates, then your team doesn't need you every night to be on your A game.

Your description of the award also fits Rose perfectly. The Bulls were the best team in the league and Rose was their best player. As for the Granger example, I see your point, but we both know that we're talking about good teams here. The MVP rarely, if ever, goes to a player on a losing/average team.

At the end of the day, your vote is your opinion and how you interpret the award.

Which is another argument, there should be no interpretation of the award. It's the Most VALUABLE Player. If they want to give an award to the best player, come out with an Offensive Player of the Year of something to go along with the Defensive Player of the Year.

MVP should be a combination of both best talent and most valuable.
Cause like I said, dude like Danny Granger (first name I thought of lol) could be argued to be most valuable to his team.

that'll change his mind ..

Why isn't there a Offensive Player of the Year award? Seriously.

Agreed. Going by that criteria, Kevin love should have won it.

The thing with Rose, he's like a hot girl. You see a hot girl, and your so busy admiring how hot she is, and you don't recognize her flaws. Same goes for Rose, everybody is so busy admiring his pretty layups and flashy dunks, that they don't take time to notice that he only shot 40% from midrange, that he only shot 30% from the corner 3, that he only shot 40% in the paint, or that he's 44th in assist/turnover ratio.

Just for comparisons sake, Chris Paul shot 45% from midrange, 44% from the corner three, 49% from in the paint, and is 1st in assist/turnover ratio.

Nobody is saying Rose doesn't have flaws. However, I'll take Rose all day over Paul, because he's only in his third year in the league and is only going to get better. Nobody has the will and the drive that this guy has. If I needed to win one game, I'm picking Rose over Paul. When Derrick is on, his ability to take over a game is matched by few others. Paul is obviously the better passer/defender and maybe I'm overlooking his abilities, but watching Derrick night in and night out take over games and carry this team just has me. I haven't seen much of CP3 in action, but I'm gonna guess he can't take over a game on the offensive end like D-Rose.

There too different players...with Derrick you sometimes want him to scale back on the aggressiveness..but then you realize he just wants to win.

Then with Cp3 you want him to be aggressive at times..but he wants to win just as bad but he knows how to get guys like landry/ariza going. Although there are times like in the laker series where you wish he attacked more. Can't go wrong with either one...

Chicago would not be near a first place team without Rose, therefore he should be the MVP; he helps make his teammates better and he shows up in the clutch from what I've watched. Try putting CP3 or Deron in Rose's shoes though. Rose is forced to score more and make his own shots in Chicago.

What would the Magic be without Dwight Howard?

He is literally the Magic's offense and defense.

Rose has a better supporting cast than Deron or CP3, and still can't do as well as either of them (as far as being a PG).

Put Deron or CP3 on the Bulls and they are not the #1 seed in the East and are probably not still playing in the playoffs.

I don't see why not, they can both score, not as good as Rose, but they can, and they get their teammates involved better than Rose. Deng and Booze would have had better scoring years with Paul and D-Will, making up the difference between the scoring numbers from Rose to CP3/D-Will, and then they're both better defenders.
