they'll be in the playoff picture. They'll be a 6 seed, at best. They probably won't win a series in the playoffs. and i'm fine with that. This is just one more step in the right direction for them.

if the nuggets wanna deal nene then they can have tayshaun prince for him.

i dont see the knicks winning with hardly ANY depth and thats waaaaay too much offense and no defense. the future for them wont be as bright either, anymore. theyll be dreaming for another year to maybe land cp3/deron..... fun <_<

donnie Walsh is a smart man. I know he didnt want to give up this much, but they really dont give up a ton since they're getting more than just Melo in return.

Donnie Walsh wasn't the man making this trade for the Knicks...

I didnt say he did. I've been following this crap extremely closely. I said he gave up a lot more than he wanted. But when I say he's smart, I mean he's smart to land the right talent around these two this offseason.

You guys keep talking about this season and quite frankly idk why. This trade has 0 to do with this season. This has to do with next season, and moving forward.

People raised the same questions about the Heat last summer -- that they would be 3 stars with scrubs around them. Well, they're a hell of a team. you can't deny that veterans will follow to NY in the offseason, for little money, at hopes of winning a championship.

but if they think they're the missing piece to make them a championship contender, they'll do it.

Also, I honestly believe Billups may be able to convince D'Antoni to spend A LITTLE time on Defense. Maybe he won't, but it's worth a shot.

There's a big difference between Melo and Amar'e and Wade, LeBron, and Bosh, you've already conceded that the Knicks aren't a title contender until they can fill out their team around those two, but Miami is and they haven't really gotten a ton of contribution from anyone but the big 3

The Nuggets traded Melo to the New York Knicks tonight, a league source said. Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors’ 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors’ 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.
Anthony will go to New York, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.
What a fleecing.

If I were a Knick fan, I'd hope that Amare's knees can actually hold up through 2012...

They traded 3 starters who get 15+ ppg each, one of which gets 9 assists, and a first round pick for Melo? :headsmack:

fleeced? What?

Raymond Felton -- 2 year player to fill in until Cp3 and Deron Williams hit Free Agency.

Wilson Chandler -- Coming off the bench. Would have been our #3 SF. Last year of contract. We wouldnt have resigned him anyhow.

Danilo Gallinari -- No way we were getting Melo without giving him up. Comes off the bench behind Melo. Plays maybe 25 minutes behind Melo.

Mozgov -- Barely can crack the lineup. 4 ppg.

Anthony Randolph -- In D'Antoni's doghouse. Everyone knows once you end up in his doghouse, you don't get out. He was inevitably gone.

Eddy Curry - This speaks for itself.

It's not that much. You don't pass up a star like Carmelo Anthony because of 3 guys who are above average, 2 of which wouldnt have started with Melo on the Knicks, in a situation where Melo would have prefered to just take the money elsewhere if needed, because of CBA uncertainty. Same shit everyone kept saying here for months. Now he gets traded and suddenly thats everyone's big excuse for why they SHOULDN'T have traded for him. Give me a break. Jealousy at its finest.

I got my own place to worry about. Adios.

Man, the Nuggets just raped the Knicks.

If I was Walsh, I'd step down.
