I was listening to WFAn660 with Joe and Evan fillin in for old man Francesca and they had Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski on and he basically said: They're going to end up adding either Gallo or Fields to the deal to seal the deal.

He also basically said things like:
Nobody in LAL's FO is in favor of trading Bynum for Melo
One way or Another, Melo becomes a Knick
He's recently talked to Kobe, and Kobe doesn't want the club to rush things and break up the core group of players

Basically, to get the full story you gotta dig around and find the real information instead of the out-of-context bullshit from ESPN.

The Knicks would be stupid to trade anything other than the bare minimum for Melo. Why? Because he will sign there as a free agent in the offseason.

Yeah well James Dolan is stupid and he's getting his nose in the negotiations so they probably will give up a little more than they should.

Recent rumors indicate that the Nuggets would like the Knicks to include Raymond Felton in a package for Carmelo Anthony, with Chauncey Billups ending up in New York as part of the deal as well.

The New York Post reports that Donnie Walsh and the Knicks are not currently considering the suggestion.

Billups doesn't have a guaranteed contract for next season, meaning New York would be able to waive him and acquire additional cap space.

Knicks rejected Felton, Gallinari, and another starter for Melo and Billups.

If they didn't accept that, this deal aint getting done.

We aren't trading Felton or Gallo... It's that simple. Plus, we don't want Billups.

Trading Felton would be dumb. Denver keeps asking for too much, those idiots, they are just gonna end up losing him for nothing in free agency. (well maybe do a little sign-n-trade, but nothing big)

Why would Denver ask for Felton in the first place? They already have Lawson sitting behind Billups.

In 6 games as a starter this year, Lawson is putting up 16, 6, and 4 while shooting above 50% from the field and only turning the ball over twice a game. Last season he put up 17, 6, 3, and shot over 50% from the field and only turned the ball over twice a game, for 8 games.

Less than a month after the New Jersey Nets pulled out of trade talks, the Denver Nuggets have re-engaged the Nets in discussions on a blockbuster deal for Carmelo Anthony(notes), league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

One source described talks as “progressing” and said they have been ongoing between Denver and New Jersey officials over a week. While the precise package being discussed was unclear, sources said talks have centered on a scaled-down package that still includes rookie forward Derrick Favors(notes) and draft picks.

What also is unknown is whether Anthony has agreed to accept a three-year, $65 million extension with New Jersey if the Nuggets and Nets work out an agreement.

The New York Knicks have been firmly engaged in talks with Denver, but haven’t come close to an agreement on a package of players and picks for Anthony. Anthony has expressed his preference to play for New York, but also is determined to get a deal done before the Feb. 24 trade deadline to ensure the contract extension.
Please make it stop.

Going to assume Melo is willing to go if the Nuggets brought the Nets back in, unless it was just another thing to pressure the Knicks like the Bynum thing was.

Man i'm sick of this. Everyone should refuse to talk about Melo in trade talks til something actually happens.

i love how they just lie right to everyone's faces. Not once has he said that, at least that I'm aware of.

As for the talks, it's just "the Nuggets reaching out to the Nets" from what I read. Doesn't necessarily mean the Nets are "back in it".

But at this point I'm with you guys -- I really don't care anymore. All this Melo crap is just getting annoying.

Reports have surfaced that the Nuggets and Nets are talking again about a trade to send Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey.

But a source with knowledge of the situation tells Alan Hahn of Newsday that the Nets reemergence is not genuine.

"The Nets are out," the source said.

Hahn writes that the Knicks are not confident that Denver actually knows what it wants from a deal for Anthony and offers his opinion that it is "amateur hour" in the Nuggets' front office.

This morning I've come up with two possible solutions for why Anthony isn't dealt yet. It's most likely one or the other, but there's the slight possibility it's both: -- based off this below:

Denver's asking price for Carmelo Anthony is more outlandish than previously thought.

The Post has learned the Nuggets made a whopping demand one week ago that is more exorbitant than recent reports. According to an NBA source debriefed on Carmelo Anthony negotiations, Denver asked for Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Landry Fields, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mozgov and a first-round pick (obtained via Anthony Randolph) for Anthony and point guard Chauncey Billups.

Yes, it looks like the Nuggets demanded everything but James Dolan's Radio City Music Hall.
Knicks management was flabbergasted, according to the league source. They fear such a proposal meant the Nuggets really didn't want to do a deal with the Knicks. Not much has changed since, though the Knicks believe the Nuggets eventually will soften on taking either Gallinari or Chandler, not both. (Eddy Curry's contract must be included for the salary-cap numbers to work).

Meanwhile, the Nuggets and Nets have re-engaged in trade talks -- which has seemed inevitable -- throwing another wrench in the Knicks' bid.

As of now, the Knicks and Nuggets head to the All-Star break with a wide chasm, and Knicks' fans crossing their fingers that the team can snag Anthony before next Thursday's NBA trade deadline. Denver's talks with the Nets are viewed by some as a ploy to get Knicks president Donnie Walsh to give up the farm.

"They want everything," the league source said of Denver. "The Knicks didn't even have to sit down and talk about that offer. It's not even logistically possible. They'd have two miserable stars with nothing around them."

SO here are the two things that are going on, in my opinion:

1. The Nuggets are so pissed off at Carmelo that they are willing to run the risk of getting nothing in return and having him sign the Knicks in the offseason anyhow, just to "get back" at him.

2. The GM of the Nuggets has absolutely no idea what he is doing. Walsh said earlier "They did the same thing with the Nets, too." They ask, ask, and once both sides think they are on the same page and are getting close the Nuggets stop and say "Eh, what about a little more?". Blame Carmelo all you want, but the reason he hasn't been dealt yet falls directly on the Nuggets.

The Nuggets and Nets are engaged in 'advanced talks' on Carmelo Anthony, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

The proposed deal would be for Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four future first rounders in exchange for Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Renaldo Balkman and Melvin Ely.

The two sides have the framework of a deal in place, but Anthony needs to be sold on an extension.

Anthony may meet with Mikhail Prokhorov, owner of the Nets, this weekend during the All-Star Game Weekend. Media reports for months have consistently suggested that Anthony strongly prefers playing for the Knicks or Bulls.

Guaranteed money involved if he signs with whoever he is traded too. I'm sure he is getting more interested in the extension as the days go on with a lock out looming and a new CBA coming in.
