Haha according to him the Knicks are better. FPS was it you who I almost made a Magic/Knicks bet with a few years back? Either you or dez.
Idk, it mightve been. I dont really make any bets with the Knicks, especially against the Magic. Living in Daytona Beach, Im not stupid I know how good the Magic are.

But yea, me and Twill made a bet that the Knicks or Nets would finish ahead of the other and right now Im winning. :blush:

It will be better for the Knicks to get Melo in FAcy, so they don't have to give up Dano, Chandler, and/or Fields.

BUT that also happens to be the worst situation for Melo. He needs to be traded if he doesn't want to lose a bunch of money in the offseason because of the CBA agreement.

i dunno if its just me, but I think getting Anthony hurts the Knicks more than it helps

yeah i know, it sounds bad, but hear me out

1. Depth: Trading for Melo gets rid of Gallinari, Chandler, and Fields. That loses a lot of depth at the SG/SF positions.
2a. Amare>Melo?: Amare's production would severly drop. Melo, being that superstar, would want to take the majority of shots. Amare has a bigger advantage over other PF/C's than Melo does over other SG/SF's/
2b. Pick and Roll: The Felton to Amare pick and roll is soooooo good, and bringing in Melo will almost eliminate the pick and role, because thats not the style of offense he runs, and it gives Felton little time with the ball.
3. Matchups: If you match up the rosters against a team like Boston or Miami, the lack of height you lose from losing Fields, who is excelling right now offensively, but mostly defensively.

Look at these rosters:

O'Neal Anthony
Garnett Bosh
Pierce James
Allen Wade
Rondo Arroyo

Pierce can effectively guard Anthony (he's guarded Kobe and LeBron), as can James. If you trade for Melo, then at SG you have Toney Douglas. a 6'1" Douglas v a sharpshooting Ray Allen and a physical Dwyane Wade is a terrible matchup for the Knicks, because he couldn't put a hand on them. And Felton probably couldn't do much more, as his defense is average, and these 2 all stars would take advantage

But if you keep Gallo and Fields, you are much better off defensively, and with Amare still there, you can score it up.

thoughts? (btw im a C's fan, not a Knicks)

check it

curry --> denver
randolph --> minni --> unprotected first --> denver
mayo --> denver
melo --> new york

but what to memphis? picks?

other then the memphis part, that works. give denver cap space, young player(s), and picks.

Not totally accurate. It said some combination of Chandler, Fields, and/or Dano. Not all of them.

thats with another team giving up multiple 1st rounders

no way in the world would DEN take less than Gallo, Chandler, Fields, and one/two 1st rounders... or they're just dumb

Yeah I highly doubt they trade all 3 of those guys, as well as Randolph for the Pick as well as Curry just for the cap reason -- i mean, yeah, Curry is gone either way. But my point is I don't think Walsh would trade that much to Denver. He knows Melo has to accept the contract wherever he goes, he knows Melo would prefer to just walk to FA and sign with the Knicks, and he knows Denver wants at least something in return -- the cards are in Donnie's hands -- question is what's he holding?

Denver is getting Mayo, Chandler, a first, and maybe Randolph/Buike if you ask me.

Well a 1st would be included. Cause the Knicks would trade Randolph for a 1st. And it might not take more than 1 first.

new york plans on extending wilson and theyre deeply in love with the rookie play from fields. if anyone of those three move its gallo and that tough IMO.

if a three way gets done with new york, denver, and memphis then it will involve minnesota and eddy curry will be the main piece to get melo. along with mayo and picks.

i dont see how you can deny youth, picks, and a 12millon expiring contract in a season where you dont know what the cap will be.

Yeah they would -- Instead of getting Fields they'd be getting Mayo -- just an example. They'd still be getting 3 players with potential as well as the draft pick.

The issue is we're all looking at the Nets package and then looking at what the Knicks have to offer and we're like "wtf, thats not even close", but truth be told its tough to compare the two deals because as we all know the Nets deal is a boom or a bust based on whether or not Melo signs the extension.

If Denver is worried he won't sign the extension, they know that the Knicks is their best solid 2nd option, and they'll take what they can get.

considering the t'wolves pick would be unprotected and theyre one of the worst teams(if not the worst), i would think that pick alone would be nice enough.

Yeah Knicks want to extend Chandler but I think they tried to play a little intimidation with Denver by basically saying "this is how good this guy can be -- we're not gonna wait forever."

At this point who really cares where Melo goes. He can join AI in Turkey for all I care. This is turning into a ridiculous saga because Denver's front office acts like Melo is the second coming of Jordan.

Just trade him to the Harlem Globetrotters and make everyone happy

Knicks are wheeling and dealing getting rid of the better players on Memphis and Nuggets. I want to see the Knicks get a title though.

What donnie was answering was if there were trade discussions with the Nuggets. There have not been serious trade discussions with the Nuggets, he is telling the truth -- what the Knicks are doing is simply reaching out to other teams to find a 3rd team that would help sweeten the deal. Thats all they've been doing. Its very early in the stages.

I understand a trade going public can hurt the chances of a deal happening but I don't quite understand where this idea is coming from that a trade going public means the trade will never fucking happen.

We all knew about the Antawn Jamison trade before it officially "went down" last year. We all knew about Artest being traded to the Rockets a day or two before it happened. It's happened before -- just because a big public monstrous deal involving Melo went public back in September doesn't mean a publicly known trade will never ever happen.

Melo's gonna be a Knick eventually, we all know that, even the ones who hate.

But this doesnt look like the deal that will make it happen.

Like I'm saying.. this isn't a deal... this isn't even close to a deal. This is just reaching to gauge the interest and see who's willing to part with who. This is just the first step in a thousand steps.

I think everyone overplays the publicity part. The reason this shit is more public is because the reporters and beat writers are just vicious creatures. They have so many more resources they find out about this shit so much easier than in the past.

Honestly, my example was just two examples. I'm sure we all knew about Shaq getting traded years ago, as well as Tracy McGrady getting traded last year -- we knew about that in advance. Allen Iverson a few years back? Same shit -- we knew about it. We knew about Garnett getting traded years ago -- we knew about that shit. We even knew about a day in advance about VC and the Magic, Suns, Wizards deals. We knew about it.
