You just told me that UZR, one of the most flawed stats out there, is to be taken as fact.

If its so flawed can you explain how the best fielders of all time somehow still manage to be at the top of the lists with UZR, defensive value, etc all of which Jeter proves Jeter to be the worst defensive shortstop in the history of the game. I doubt there is any argument that Omar Vizquel and Ozzie Smith are near the top of the list so I'm not going to question it when Jeter being at the bottom rubs a Yankee fan the wrong way. Get over it, Jeter = most overrated Player of the past 20 years. He's had a nice career but NY needs to realize he is not all that great in the larger scheme of the sport. We are talking about a guy who has NEVER been at the top of his position. In the 90s Garciaparra, Rodriguez, Larkin, etc were better. In the more recent years, anyone with half a brain would take guys like HanRam and Tulo over him. This guy Has compiled a good deal of numbers over the years but like Pete Rose, he is one of the most overrated people in the game.

Prime= Jeter from 1998-2006. Now thats my definition, very high BA, OBP, RBI's, and moderate power. After that you see his numbers start to dip from its peak. Lower BA, OPS+, lower power numbers, and RBI totals. Even less SB's which is a crucial sign of someone out of their prime, speed is one of the first abilities to go.

Derek Jeter still is a serviceable player, but definitely not in his prime in comparison to 2006 when he hit .343 and an OBP of .417 which was great.

UZR doesn't even take into account the most important thing about a hit ball, how hard it was hit. Nor does it take in to account the length of the grass or if it was even grass at alll and also gives no credit to a fielder knocking down a ball that was hit hard that would have gotten to the OF but the fielder didn't make the out.

Until you can find me a stat that takes all of those things into account, I'll stick to using my eyes.

LOL...Jeter is about 2 years past his prime. No argument needed.

Anyways...I expect to have Andruw Jones signed by the end of the week.

Yankees stepping up pursuit of Andruw Jones

The Yankees were first linked to Jones last week by SI.com’s Jon Heyman and now the Sports Illustrated reporter is saying that the Bombers have “stepped up” their pursuit of the 33-year-old.

I didn't realize Andruw Jones was only 33 years old, I thought he was older.

Either way gives you guys nice depth, especially if he can hit 20+ homeruns.

The Yankees are nearing a deal with Andruw Jones

Yahoo!’s Tim Brown tweets that the Yankees are nearing a one-year deal with Andruw Jones. This after a weekend of reports that had the Yankees interested at one turn and balking at the next.

...the Yankees are shuffling towards having Jones as their designated lefty-masher. He mashed to the tune of .256/.373./.558 against southpaws last year.

The Yankees sign Andruw Jones

Yankees have signed Andruw Jones to a one-year, $2 million contract, with another $1.2 million possible in performance-based incentives. Jones will be a fourth outfielder/DH/Designated lefty-masher next year.
