The Broncos ran more than they passed when they had Davis and Elway. I guess Elway wasn't a franchise QB...

Troy Aikman had the leading rusher in NFL history behind him, I guess he wasn't a Franchise QB.

You all are throwing around the word franchise QB like every QB in the league is one.

No, we're not.

Garrard isn't one because he won't be here for the future because the Jags have dedicated to him as their Franchise QB. We will draft ours this offseason or trade for ours.
Jason Campbell isn't one.
Jimmy Clausen isn't one yet.
Ryan Fitzpatrick isnt.
Can't say Colt McCoy is one yet.
Kerry Collins isnt.
Vikings don't have one yet.
49ers dont, Seahawks don't, Cardinals don't.

Trust me, its not like every team has one.

Stop sticking up for SG whenever he's getting owned, hes wrong here. Let it die.

Everyone has their own interpretation of a franchise QB then, IMO a franchise QB is someone that is untouchable and will constantly lead your team. At least that's how it is in hockey.

SG, yet again blurring the lines of what a franchise QB is and isn't. Just because someone isn't the best offensive player on their team doesn't mean they're not the franchise QB. Mark Sanchez isn't even close to being the best player on the Jets, but he is their franchise QB because they're going to be moving forward with him at the most important position on the football field.

Silly Canadians.

Otto Graham had Jim Brown, I guess he isn't deserving of the Hall of Fame since he wasn't a franchise quarterback.
Kurt Warner had Marshall Faulk, so that must mean that Warner won't make it in since he wasn't a franchise quarterback.

They did smack the Jets around twice that season.

I refered to Branch in response to you saying they were a different team -- obviously that doesn't matter, they still won the division.

Sig bet on who wins Jets vs Patriots. I got New England.
Also irrelevant.

Still isn't relevant.

Also irrelevant.

Good job, Mr. NFL poster of the universe who cried about losing his mod spot.

LMFAO

but yeah a franchise QB is someone who you build your team around, someone who you'll dedicate time and effort to lead your team into a deep playoff run. and elite QB is way different than a franchise QB. Tom Brady is a franchise QB and an elite QB. Mark Sanchez is just a franchise QB since the Jets are gonna keep him around and prolly wont replace him for a while.

People need to stop learning these football terms from Madden imo.

Let's not forget that Wayne did lead the NFL in dropped passes. It may be good for Indy to try and trade him while he still has some value. He did pull his best Marvin Harrison impression though.

I think some of you are confusing the term Franchise and Elite QB.

A Franchise QB is the guy you choose to build your team around for the Future and there are quite a few in the league.

The Bears made Cutler a Franchise QB when they decided to bring Martz in to run that offense.
Palmer is one with the Bengals.
Rivers with the Chargers
Colts around Peyton
(not really ready to say that the Chiefs are built around Cassell. I think they gave too much money for him)
Cowboys choose to build around Tony Romo
Falcons around Ryan
Giants around Eli Manning.

the list just goes on of players that have the football team built arond them.

An elite QB is the group the few that set themselves far apart during the year. Using newer Metrics for 2010 the elite QBs were:

Brady
Manning
Rivers
Rodgers
Brees
Ryan

They set themselves above and beyond the rest of the QB field using the Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement stat which is supposed to be like a WAR or VORP type stat using baseball as a reference since the metric states are quite popular there.

When the Lions drafted Stafford #1 overall and gave him like 72 mill.. he is their franchise QB.. nuff said.
