Lmao, so much for your players cant resist the Yankees money theory. Damn it man, we have to deal with them every year and now they are the best team in baseball without a doubt. I dont care how bad their lineup got, they have the best rotation in baseball. How the hell are we going to compete with that juggernaut.....
That theory has held true in every free agent situation excluding Greg Maddux and Cliff Lee. I do feel sorry for the Mets right now, more-so than my own kind.

Just send us Johan Santana right now and we'll be willing to stuff the Phillies in the Fall Classic for the good of our state and city.

Im willing to sign up for that, if you can beat em might as well get someone who will... I really dont care if the Yankees win, its the Phillies who I dont like. We play them moderately well every year, but I dont know about this year. I mean they have that great pitching staff and although their offense isnt as good its still very potent. I do like the fact that they are tied up with very big contracts which later on will bite them in the ass big time.

How bad their lineup got? They still have Rollins, Howard, Utley, the Flyin Hawaiian, Polanco, and Domonic Brown is an up-and-coming player. He was pretty terrible last year but he was just a rookie, he should improve and the sample size was pretty small.

Figures. Knew he'd probably go to either New York or Philadelphia, seems to always work out that way. Phillies are going to be good again next year, as always.

This is just awesome! I was hoping he would come back to the Rangers, but it's nice to see someone turn down the Yankees, other than Maddux. Imagine that. It's actually possible to play where you want to, even if it means taking less years and money. Crazy thought isn't it?

Man I still cant believe this bull<Censored>. He didnt go for the money, but he ended up going to my division rival. I wish he wouldve stayed with the Rangers and made that franchise grow. Now we have to deal with him for 5 years, man this is going to be a LONG year as a Mets fan.....

That second sentence is exactly why everyone, outside of Philly, has to be afraid of this deal...if anything at least slightly afraid.
I'm still not afraid

The Giants handled that rotation pretty well, and not just in the playoffs. If you recall, they beat Halladay in the regular season for his first loss I think? I know they handled him well last season outside of the playoffs fo sho.

I'll probably regret saying I'm not afraid but whatever, right now I'm not sweating it.

The Phillies asked Roy Halladay how he felt about the team acquiring Cliff Lee over the weekend before reaching a deal with the free agent.

GM Ruben Amaro gave Halladay a call to make sure he was comfortable with Philadelphia signing a second true ace.

"There's no way, if you really want to win, you're going to be worrying about what they're paying him," Halladay said in a telephone interview. "And that's definitely not my case. I'm thrilled Cliff is here. I would have loved to have played with him last year, but I understood the business of it. I understood we traded all these young players and we were trying to get some back. But once [Amaro] said they had a chance we could get him back again, I was thrilled. It's better for us. He's going to make us a better team.

"Ruben didn't have to call me. That just tells you about the organization. That's why so many players want to come here."
