He took like $50M less and less years to go to Philadelphia. I have to at least assume that tonight Lee was holding out on agreeing to the deal until he could get Free Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches from Geno's for life. Thats what I woulda done.. lol.

Buster Olney says yanks offered 6 years at $23M per year, with a 7th year option of $16M... i thought they were desperate?

My guess is Rangers offered about 6 years at probably $21M per year.

BTW, can an Admin edit the title of this topic? I misspelled Phillies, haha.

Some old woman named Phillis did not sign Cliff Lee, haha.

while i admit the phils rotation is ballistic, their offense sucks. they're really going to miss Werth

BUT, they're still the favorites out the NL. dont get me wrong

lol Yankees................(until they get Greinke)

So the phils were the mystery team. Now this make me think that the yanks are gonna get real desperate to get a SP and give up Montero for Greinke. I mean theyre close to signig Martin and Montero will probably be stuck in the minors for at least a year. I know martins only a stop gap but the sox got a lot better and they failed to sign Lee.

i think the Royals might trade Greinke to the Rangers
if Zack had to choose 1, i think he'd take the Rangers. he has a no-trade clause after all

boy, if the yanks dont get greinke, what now?
cant sign pavano
the rest of the FA pitchers suck
who's available via trade? Matt Garza?

We need to stay as far away from him as possible. Trading for Greinke is worse than asking Khalil Greene to give a speech in front of 50 thousand people. He'd. Probably be out the whole <Censored>ing year with depression after his fist bad start and the papers rip him

I am sick to my stomach. Cliff Lee is not human. He turned down $61M and totally defeated the purpose of MLB free agency.

Yes, Cliff Lee was a lock for the Yankees...I mean who f**k turns down that kind of money? I knew Cliff Lee loved Philly and had it been known that they were in on the guy, I wouldn't of been so confident. Ruben Amaro Jr. is the God damn greatest GM alive. A little over a year ago, this guy was negotiating a deal for either Halladay or Lee, and w/o having to give up Dom Brown. Fast-forward to now....he's got all 3.

Just crown 'em...crown 'em right now!!!

Sign Adrian Beltre for the hell of it, finalize the deal with Russell Martin, and start putting together a hefty prospects package to send over to Kansas City in exchange for Greinke.

I am really disappointed by this news. I look like a total a-hole too. I live in the Greater Philly area and all I have been telling these Phillie-fan yahoos I work with for months..."Cliff Lee will be a Yankee".

Thanks Cliff, I hope your wife gets jizzed on walking down Market St.
