In terms of clearing money that makes sense...but that's about the only way that makes sense.

Same. Also the same with guys not named Zajac or Parise lol

They really do need to trade for a young goalie or draft one
Yeah, the Devils can't just sit there with one of the best ever (nearing the end of a beast career) and feel confident. They need to do a lot of moves, but I agree, they need to get a young talented goalie in the system that is ready to learn and progress.

Mike Modano is scheduled to be in Detroit on Tuesday to meet with the Red Wings' brass.
Modano is still contemplating retirement, but the Wings have displayed considerable interest in bringing him into their organization. "It's a big decision, and I know it would be for them too, so we'll talk about it and see if this works for both sides," said the Detroit-area native. "I'm excited. I'm looking forward to hearing what they think." Stay tuned. Jul. 6 - 6:10 am et

Well, I remember all the Detroit fans here were saying they could maybe see him in the Red Wings uni. We'll see.

DarrenDreger: May be old news. Jaro Halak has agreed to a 4 year contract with the Blues.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Canucks defenceman Shane O'Brien has decided not to rock the boat and tempt fate, agreeing to the Canucks' qualifying offer of $1.6 million.

The blueliner had two goals and eight points, in his second year with the Canucks this season, while putting up five playoff points. He has 79 penalty minutes in 65 games.

Three Canucks have filed for arbitration. Mason Raymond, who set career highs in goals, assists and points will likely get a raise. While Jannik Hansen and Tanner Glass also opted for mediation
I love this SOB <3

It's enough for him. He's a character guy which is always good to have on your team and he's solid defensively. He had a few off-ice problems but solid player overall.

Not that big of a news but the GM Place is officially now Rogers Place. Sounds weird.

They don't have space but then again, neither do the Devils. Rags can't offer as much for as long as New Jersey can...but word around here is that Lamouriello is growing tired of the whole process. I would have to believe that he would still sign Kovy, if anything, to keep him away from the Rangers. But at this point, it's safe to say Kovalchuk is playing in New York or New Jersey next season and beyond.

I haven't read anything but it has to be bull. Like Rios pointed out, they don't have cap space. Theres like no way. They have those big contracts of Gaborik, Redden, and Drury eating up a lot of money. Not to mention Marc Staal they need to keep who is due for a raise. I just don't see how it would happen
