I'm hoping he signs with New Jersey lol.
Hey now, I'm no Islander fan...just a big fan of Nino's.You may be right...
Stupid career choice IMO, but you're an Islanders fan so of course you don't think so lol
Well I mean, I guess you guys missed the part where I stated the Kings have the #2 farm system in the NHL behind the Predators...I am going to have to agree with Sheldon on this one. Like I said earlier, he is around 27 years old and still has some time left, but I thought he would for sure want to try and hop on a championship contender. On the flip side, I guess he sees that the NYI has some young studs in Tavares, Okposo etc. and feels that he has a few years to form this team into something special.
We're all putting way more thought into this decision than Kovalchuk is. I don't know what this man is considering anymore but I don't think it's all about a ring. I thought that's what he was after, and LA is the obvious choice, but now I am starting to think that those dollar amounts coming out of Long Island & Russia are starting to get to him.Well I mean, I guess you guys missed the part where I stated the Kings have the #2 farm system in the NHL behind the Predators...
He has a much better chance to win now and later if he goes to Los Angeles
And AE, oh my bad lol. I was thinking you were with the Isles
I agree but he's a hard guy to predict because if it was all about money, he would have taken Atlanta's offer. We're all putting way more thought into this decision than Kovalchuk is. I can't see Kovalchuk going to the KHL, I am not so sure about the Isles anymore, and again...he'd already be a King if that was such a lock. I really think some serious contending team might be together a surprise 1-year offer & we see Kovy take a route similar to what Hossa did.
Not if he really didn't like Atlanta. Atlanta's best off was 10/$101M & I am sure Kovy's agent was assuring him that he'd get that offer or even better, once he hit the open market. Keeping how contracts are structured (cause we don't know) aside...the Isles offer of 10/$100M makes Kovy's agent right.I agree but he's a hard guy to predict because if it was all about money, he would have taken Atlanta's offer.
Wild card team picks him up and he enjoys laughing at all of us trying to predict what he would do
EDIT: http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/nhlblog/kovalchuk_expected_to_sign_with_6bXr165ziolHuq8eWQQKLO - a link to thatNew York Post reporting Kovvy to Devils for $60 M over 7 years. Phoned Lamoriello and Grossman, no answer... will keep trying folks !
They'll make moves around him...they actually HAVE to make moves around him in order to get under the cap.He never really fit in with the devils lol. But I guess he wants to stay in new jersey. It's gonna interesting to see how he does with a new coach.
They're on the decline lolVery good for the Devils & why not? The Devils can win, they're close enough to big market, and this contract still handsomely pays Kovy. Tsk, tsk, to the Kings and they're bullsh*t offer.
On the decline...why? cause marty's old? They f'ing took a dump in the playoffs, they need to upgrade their defense, and they need Marty's successor. The Devils will be turning a new page but its not like they're heading for the dumps or even re-building. Kovy long-term is a good start...time to adjust the roster to get the right pieces around him. As long as he's a Devil, I can't see why the NJ doesn't make the playoffs every year. They're on the decline lol
It'll be interesting though. Maybe he will finally get a place in the system.
yeah, someone's going to be out. Read something that it could be LangenbrunnerThey'll make moves around him...they actually HAVE to make moves around him in order to get under the cap.
I saw that & I think Langenbrunner is a good candidate to be moved...Zubrus too. You think of re-signing Kovalchuk and bringing back Arnott...Devils are crowded with Forwards.yeah, someone's going to be out. Read something that it could be Langenbrunner
