My Sutter to Edmonton conspiracy makes a whole lot more sense now doesn't it
I really don't understand what he is doing. For real. They need to get some youth in that team, they are going to have absolutely NOBODY and NOTHING going for them in like 2-3 years if they don't.

Have the Leafs been talking to any big name players? Like Kovi?

I'm loving free agency today. Weak pool yes but its pretty exciting if you ask me. The moves being made today weren't expected for the most part at least and you can see which teams are trying to make an impact for the upcoming season and the effect the salary cap is having on some teams (Chicago) lmao

Kovy wants to win and Burke most likely has talked to him but no way in Hell is he going to Toronto

LA is the choice he'll probably make unless someone else throws him a great roster and hella money which is unlikely

Andrew Raycroft to the Stars

It's a great opportunity for him imo. Kessel, Versteeg, and Kovi? Sweet if you ask me.

Nice little signing for Dallas. Raycroft is a solid backup. I wish him the best.

Lol

Kopitar, Brown, Doughty, Smyth, Stoll, Williams, Handzus, Modin, Greene, Johnson, Quick

Not to mention the prospect pool full of talent like Hickey, Forbort, Teubert, Moller, Martinez, and Schenn

Los Angeles is EASILY the better option

I'm not denying that the Kings are a good option, just saying that Toronto shouldn't be automatically eliminated from talks with Kovy.

I hate players that change teams almost every single season. Like Jokinen, right back to the Flames from New York.

Kovalchuk wants to win a Cup while getting paid top dollar. Which option is better...

Thats all he wants. Don't you think he would have wanted to extend with Atlanta if winning a Cup wasn't at the top of his list? Toronto doesn't present him with an opportunity to win a Cup like Los Angeles does. They just made a playoff run and faced a tough Vancouver team and got ousted. They had a Norris finalist in Doughty and they have great options in goal. Adding a superstar wingers like Kovalchuk would make them a top team in the Western conference. The Kings know this and Kovalchuk knows it. I would be surprised if he took another offer, and that offer would be more money IMO.

Thats what happens when no teams want to invest a long term deal in you

YES...they should.

Leafs can't offer the most money or the best shot at a Championship. Kovy isn't Canadien and never a Leafs' fan, as far as I know. What's any incentive for him to play in Toronto right now?

Eric Nystrom to Minny 3 years/1.4 mil per year.

Boyd signs a $650,000 one year deal with MTL.

Dustin Boyd took a smaller amount than I thought. He's a pretty solid player, I thought he'd get anywhere from 900K-1M

John Scott signs with Chicago for 525K lol

That's not a bad signing. They lost Burish and they needed a replacement for him.
