The Toronto Raptors have talked to six to eight teams willing to do sign-and-trades for Chris Bosh(notes), but front office sources say general manager Bryan Colangelo has ruled out bringing back the expensive contract of Bulls forward Luol Deng(notes).

Not having JJ won't kill the Hawks. They'll lose a few more games, but it won't keep then out of the postseason.

The verdict is still out on Drew, as I can't stand his son.

DLee S&T for Bosh

Best deal Toronto is gonna get talent wise, unless their looking for picks, only deal i could think that'll match is MIA and Beasley but from what I hear they couldnt give Beas away.

Who is going to lead the Hawks if Johnson isn't there though? Josh Smith cannot lead a team and be a go-to guy. Neither can Jamal Crawford. Mike Bibby is well on the decline. Al Horford will never be a go-to guy. And Marvin Williams is a bum. That team can NOT win without Johnson, period. Anyone who thinks otherwise underestimates the talent of the East, especially after this off-season.

It's not up to Toronto.. It's up to Bosh.

I can believe Smith, Williams, and Bibby can't. But Horford is still young, and Crawford would be their best option if Johnson left.

As far as the rest of the East, things are kind of hazy because we have no idea what will happen.

I know, Crawford is their best option. But do you really think he's the kind of guy that can lead a team? I sure don't.

Yes. If he starts, I think he's capable of 25 a game. He averaged 19 off the bench last year.

Crawford cant lead a team, I saw in when he was in NY he's best suited for the "gunner off the bench role" if he's the #1 option all he'll do is jack shots.

He could get 25 a game, but it'll take 28 shots.

Charlotte was THE best defensive player in the league though. Milwaukee was a great defensive team too. Both teams had far better coaching than ATL too. Atlanta would have a solid starting 5, but no true leader/go-to scorer, no bench, a bad coach, etc. I don't think that team could win 41 games. And the Nets could be a playoff team next year too, don't count them out. I'd also say the Pistons have an outside shot.
injuries did kill us, and with greg monroe we are better(assuming we keep ben wallace). but i dont think we're a playoff team, not as bad as this year but not yet a playoff team.

Richard Jefferson has opted out of the final season of his contract. Jefferson would have earned $15.2M in the final year of his contract.
the past couple seasons hurt his chances of getting a big deal. i wouldnt give him more than 6/7mill a season. plus this class is too stacked for him to get anything big.

Actually Al and Josh both could lead the team. Honestly scoring alot doesn't always make you the leader. I admit JJ was our leader but he wasn't vocal at all. That was more Bibby then anyone else. Josh and Al are both All-Star potential players. I think it's alot easier to say "who's going to lead" when the current leader has gone but theres always a player to step up. JJ is a gift and a curse really. Sure he puts up good numbers but he also keeps others from really getting to shine. Which is why I'm glad we'll have an actual offensive system with LD rather then Woody who said offense "takes care of itself".

HoopsHype:

The longer the weeks before free agency dragged out, sources say it’s become clearer to guard Joe Johnson that he truly wants to stay with the Atlanta Hawks. Will the Hawks give Johnson a $119 million max contract over six years, or come close to it? It’s doubtful they will go the distance with a max offer, but that sixth guaranteed season is likely to be a difference-maker in keeping Johnson. He’ll meet with the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls on Thursday, but sources insist those major markets don’t hold much of an appeal to him.
