Can Tim Lincecum win his third straight Cy Young, joining Greg Maddux and Randy Johnson as the only pitchers to accomplish that feat?

Only two other under-25-year-old pitchers in history have had two seasons with 260+ strikeouts and an ERA+ above 160: "Sudden" Sam McDowell and Walter Johnson, who might be the best pitcher ever. Source: yahoo.com
Pretty impressive, but it will be tough in the NL with Carpenter, Wainwright, Johnson, Santana, Haren, and even Cain.

And Halladay <_<.
I think he has a great chance of winning his 3rd straight Cy young award. But like you said, it's going to be a tough competition.

Whose Halladay? Is it that guy from the AL?

We'll see, everyone says he will dominate the NL East. But you never know, isnt he like 35 now or something?

He's won 2...no one thought he could win either of them

So I'll get on board and say he can win a 3rd straight Cy Young Award because he's that damn impressive

I wouldnt be surprised at all if he starts digressing.
I can honestly say that to Carp as well. He's like a year older than Halladay. Plus you're acting like Halladay is super old lol.

I just dont think he will be as dominant as a lot of people predict him to be. He plays it Citizens Bank Park now, its a lot different from the pitcher friendly skydome.

Imo if you're a good pitcher like Halladay it doesn't matter where you pitch. He also played in a pretty tough division and had good success. Look at Cliff Lee, I know he had a short stint with Philly but he was still pretty good. Plus you can't really consider Rogers Centre as a pitcher friendly park, it's neutral imo.

I like Halladay, Josh Johnson, and Clayton Kershaw over him this year.

This shouldn't be a question because he shouldn't even have won it this past year.

The 2008 Cy Young Winner who actually had a better 2009 shouldn't have won it. Right.

GTFO. I didn't think he was the favorite but he easily deserved it.

He had a better year then his 2008 year, while Chris Carpenter had a better year then both of those.

I thought Carpenter would win it but you can't honestly say that Lincecum, Wainwright, and Carpenter were not all deserving of the award.

Considering the award is only given out to 1 person, only one person deserves it every year.

So judging by your statement...Lincecum was the only deserving player then?

So what do you mean he shouldn't have won it then? If he won it, you're saying he deserved it...
