Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre reportedly told ESPN that it was "highly unlikely" he would play again.

Favre, 40, came out of his second retirement and led the Vikings to the NFC championship game this season, in the first year of a two-year, $25 million contract. But he said after the 31-28 loss Sunday night to the New Orleans Saints that he would head home to Mississippi to think about whether to retire for good.

ESPN's Adam Schefter's wrote on his Twitter page this morning: "Let this be the first of hopefully very few Favre-Watch updates: Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder it was 'highly unlikely' he'd play again.
Let's see how long that lasts. I would feel pretty safe betting he still does play.

If I was him I'd finish the next season out with the Vikings and collect that 13 million or whatever he is going to get.
Might as well?

Maybe Tavaris Jackson will finally get his chance to show what he's got...

I'm just pissed that Alex Smith is back to being a bench player

Just waiting for the retirement, then unretirement, then signing with San Fran =)

Brett is dumb if he retires. They got so close this year, just expect what they can do next year with even better players. So if I was him I would stay for that last year and get the money and the ring.

If Favre went to San Fran it would be like career suicide.

If they pick up some OLman and another good receiver, although Josh Morgan is progressing, then they'll be a threat...only if lol

Until training camp is done... wait...
This. Please, no more Favre talk until then.

Until the AP breaks the story, don't <Censored>ing believe it.

Its not wise to speculate this early into the Vikings' off-season. Brett is coming off a sheer ass-beating, he's exhausted, and its been a long season. Childress finally said something right in telling the media that he and Brett agreed to go home, lick their wounds, and talk about it later into the off-season.

I personally believe that Brett will end up playing that 20th season. He may not make that decision right away but I think because he's proved to himself that he can still play at a Pro Bowl level and because he had such a great season with the Vikings, it only makes sense to give it that final go. You know he isn't going to want to live with that last throw on his brain for the rest of his life and be plagued by "what if's". Even Favre's wife said that she didn't want this season to end and its been more enjoyable than she could of ever imagined.

Given how bad Favre tore up your va-Giant-nas in Week 17...your in no position to make fun or pass judgement.
Given how we beat him when it mattered most which was in the playoffs, I could give a crap what he does in the regular season.
