Former Toronto Blue Jay Roy Halladay took out a full-page advertisement in Tuesday's edition of the Toronto Sun to thank his former organization, the fans and the City of Toronto.

The ad shows a letter that is written on letter head that said "ROY HALLADAY"

"My wife Brandy, sons Braden and Ryan, and I would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Toronto Blue Jays organization, its incredible fans, and the City of Toronto," Halladay wrote in the ad.

"I feel blessed to have been part of the Blue Jays since 1995 and am extremely grateful for the opportunities it has provided. Throughout this past 15 years, there have been so many people within the organization that have made a wonderful and significant impact in my life, it would be impossible to name them all.

I am sincerely grateful for the incredible support and compassion the Blue Jays fans have always shown me. I am in awe of your overwhelming passion and devotion.

Toronto will forever have a special place in my heart.

The memories will last a lifetime and so will my gratitude.

The 2003 Cy Young Award winner was 148-76 with a 3.43 ERA for the Blue Jays. He was traded to the Phillies last week in four-team trade that also saw Cliff Lee head to Seattle.

Classy move by a classy player. He will be missed. Maybe the Jays should sign him back after his contract expires .

They probably will win but this isn't the move that will make it happen.. Vazquez is coming off a career year in the NL, he was in the AL the 3 previous years and had an ERA over 4 2 of the 3 years, with the 3rd year being near 4 with the White Sox.

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Braves have signed slugger Troy Glaus to a one-year contract. FoxSports first reported the deal, which will become official once he passes a physical.

Glaus missed most of last season recovering from shoulder surgery. He appeared in 14 games late in the season for the St. Louis Cardinals and hit .172 with two RBI.

The 33-year-old veteran, who set a St. Louis franchise mark for third basemen with a .982 fielding percentage in 2008, is being brought into Atlanta to play first base, a position he has played just six times in 1,409 big league games.

Glaus owns a .255 batting average, 304 home runs and 879 RBI in his career with the Angels, Diamondbacks, Blue Jays and Cardinals. He was a member of the Angels' 2002 World Series championship team and hit a career-high 47 home runs for the Halos in 2000.

LOS ANGELES -- A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that reliever Fernando Rodney has reached a preliminary agreement with the Los Angeles Angels on a two-year deal worth US$11 million.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been finalized. Rodney must pass a physical for it to be completed.

Rodney spent the past seven seasons in the Detroit Tigers' bullpen, including the past two as their closer. The hard-throwing right-hander had 37 saves last season with a 4.40 earned-run average and just one blown save.

Meh. I don't care if he only has 1 blown save but 4.40 ERA is meh.
