Indianapolis Star - The Colts could be without No. 2 receiver Anthony Gonzalez for as many as six weeks.

Gonzalez left the team's win over the Jaguars on Sunday with a knee injury. The team hasn't elaborated on the it, but a source close to the wide out said he sprained a knee ligament and could miss two to six weeks.

"I sure hope it's not a season-ending injury," Peyton Manning told the Indianapolis Star. "I hope he's back soon. He's a huge part of our offense."

New York Daily News - Giants rookie receiver Hakeem Nicks will have an MRI on Monday, but a source claims that he'll miss 2-3 weeks of action with a foot injury.

The team said that Nicks "sprained" his foot in their season-opening win over the Redskins on Sunday. X-rays taken during the game were negative.

Philadelphia Inquirer - Donovan McNabb is doubtful for Philadelphia's Week Two battle with New Orleans, a team source told the Inquirer.

When asked if it was safe to say that McNabb would miss next Sunday's game, Eagles coach Andy Reid said, "No, that's not safe to say."

McNabb appeared to injure his ribs during a three-year touchdown run in the third quarter of the team's 38-10 win over Carolina.

ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Jason Smith, the second overall pick in this year's draft, sprained his left knee and will be listed as doubtful for Sunday's home game against Green Bay.

An MRI exam revealed the extent of the injury, which coach Steve Spagnuolo said Monday would not require surgery. The Rams lost 9-7 at Washington on Sunday.

Adam Goldberg finished the game at Smith's position and would likely replace him as the starter. Smith said he was hurt during the Rams' touchdown drive in the second quarter, although he stayed in for several more plays before leaving the game.

"I don't remember whether it popped or not," Smith said. "In the heat of the battle, you don't really feel it, but I knew something wasn't right."

Hope he's ok, cuz the Rams have a lot of money invested in that guy. And coach Spagnuolo is a great guy.

Safety Kenny Phillips' season with the New York Giants ended just days after the best game of his career.

Phillips, who had two interceptions in Sunday night's win over Dallas, was placed on injured reserve by the Giants (2-0) on Thursday because of an unhealthy left knee. The team also announced it was awarded safety Aaron Rouse off waivers from Green Bay.

"I really feel for Kenny because he had worked so hard during the offseason to prepare himself for the '09 season," general manager Jerry Reese said. "He had a great camp and was just beginning to come into his own and showed flashes of being one of the premier safeties in the NFL. We expect him to recover from this setback and come back stronger than ever. This league is about making adjustments and we will do that."

Yeah its a damn shame, this year was his breakout year.

I hope we can get healthy fast, because CC Brown isnt starting material, Id like to see Thomas moved to saftey, whenever Ross is able to play.

its bad too. Probably career threatening. Pretty much the cartiledge between the two bones is worn out, and its just bone on bone which can be painful. He's def. gonna end up getting Microfracture surgery, i can almost guarantee it.

Tough loss though, hopefully he can play without much pain the rest of his career.

I didnt know it was career threatening, it seems like it happened out of nowhere, b/c he played great against Dallas, even though he was playing hurt.

I really hope he can bounce back.

the problem with his injury is even specialists say they would have rather heard it was a Torn ACL and MCL, because those can be repaired. Arthritis cant be repaired, they can only ease the pain and slow the progression of it getting worse.

He's going to have to play through the pain for much of his career unfortunately.

From NFL.com Regarding Dwight Freeney

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney says he will have an MRI after injuring his right quadriceps during the third quarter of Sunday night's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Freeney said the injury occurred on a play in which he was held by a blocker.

Freeney, the franchise's career leader in sacks and a four-time Pro Bowler, said he "felt something pop" on the play. Freeney's fierce pass rush was a big factor for the Colts' defense in a 31-10 victory.

A few more injury updates:

Chad Pennington
Dolphins QB Chad Pennington suffered a right shoulder injury early in the second half against the Chargers and was replaced by Chad Henne.
Frank Gore
The 49ers lost RB Frank Gore early in the game against the Vikings because of a right ankle injury. Gore didn’t return, and NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that the running back sustained a high ankle strain that likely will keep him out at least two weeks.
Rams get rammed
The Rams suffered several injuries against the Packers, as QB Marc Bulger (bruised right shoulder), WR Laurent Robinson (ankle) and S James Butler (knee) all left the game and didn’t return. Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said further evaluation was necessary before he knew how much time the players would miss.
Other injuries include Kevin Smith of the Lions, Albert Haynesworth, who returned, and Cortland Finnegan. We'll know more on these once teams get the results hopefulyl today, if not by Thursday.
