Amir Johnson was traded twice this summer, but is ready to run with the Raptors heading into the season.

Toronto acquired Johnson to provide backcourt depth behind Chris Bosh, Andrea Bargnani, Rasho Nesterovic and Reggie Evans.

"I heard they (the Raptors) are looking to get up and down the floor a little bit more," Johnson told the Toronto Star.

Johnson isn't considered a finished product, but he'll have to time grow with the Raptors.

LOL, I do hope he does good but really he's not going to be the great player so many Detroit fans thought. I'm glad I always rooted more for Jason.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets have reached a verbal agreement on a contract with free agent Pops Mensah-Bonsu, a television station reported.

Mensah-Bonsu, a forward who split time between San Antonio and Toronto last season, told KRIV-TV in Houston that it feels good to be a Rocket.

Mensah-Bonsu, who played 12 games for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2006-07 season, has career averages of 4.1 points and 3.9 rebounds after playing a total of 34 games over two years.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? Why didn't we resign him? Man.. :(

those are terrible rankings. TERRIBLE
lol I'm okay with them if Toronto is 2, but you got to admit Toronto really did have a good off-season. I think the Cavs should be ranked higher adding two players who were starters last year to the bench, and adding Shaq who is expiring next year right? Or am I wrong? If he's not, that's sad.

Cleveland- Adds Shaq for basically nothing
Orlando adds VC15, Bass
Mavs add Gooden and Marion for basically nothing
Detroit last for signing the two biggest FA's?
Washington makes a GREAT draft day trade and is that low?

New Jersey #3? New Jersey will be lucky not to be picking first this upcoming year.
Boston #5 for adding sheed?
And they like everyone else are overrating the Spurs offseason
Atlanta at 7? WTF did Atlanta do this offseason?

It's hard too really. But whoever did those rankings are retards.

But don't worry, Raptors did have a top 5 offseason, they deserve to be up there, but some of the top 5 need to be where some of the bottom 5 are

I agree with you on that, because Cleveland got what they needed. Adding Shaq, a big man that can guard Dwight and possibly get them some rebounds, even though he's slow, Cleveland's offense isn't really a fast paced one. Raptors definitely improved adding Hedo and some bench players, and drafting DeMar, but if Bosh doesn't resign, it's going to hurt in the long run signing Hedo. Boston still have their championship team and added a couple players off the bench, and a new starter which gives them a complete line-up, I look forward to seeing them this season. Dallas, they don't deserve to be so low for giving up scrubs for Marion lol.

That list is absolutely terrible and not just because Detroit is at the bottom. Orlando and Cleveland had great off-seasons. I don't see how the Lakers aren't higher, they added Artest and kept LO.

That list is trash and that dude who wrote it caught a lot of beef on the RealGM boards.

BRING BACK J-CRITT!!

The one concern fro LA right now is the PG position, and the more I read reports the more I'm losing faith in Farmar, the fiya isn't there anymore. What's he doing now? NUFFIN. How did he perform last season and in the playoffs? LIKE CRAP.

Critter had mad potential, but then he had to go to some bad situations in Memphis, & Washington (w/out Gilbert and their slew of injuries). Had he kept learning under Kobe, begeezus idk. The PG situation would be set.

I was mad when we traded Critt instead of Farmar, then I though Farmar's still good, now I'm back to wanting Critt' back and Farmar gone.

Heat guard Patrick Beverly has signed with a team in Greece.
He signed a one-year deal with Olympiakos, but could return to play for the Heat next season. Heat rookie forward Robert Dozier has also signed to play in Greece this year.
per roto

Haha, everyone is going to Greece. First Kleiza and Wafer, now Beverly and Dozier.

"The college-style recruiting pitch worked.

Joe Smith has spent the past month being wooed by the Hawks, and Tuesday night all the team's hard work paid off.

Smith signed a one-year deal Tuesday for the veteran's minimum salary, approximately $1.3 million, rounding out the team's frontcourt rotation with the veteran big man they've searched for all summer.

"When you're a free agent, that's key," Smith said by phone Tuesday evening. "How a team recruits you and what they do to try and get you in their organization says a lot about them. The last month or so the Hawks have been coming hard at me, and that shows how much they wanted me down here and what they think I can bring to this situation."

A 6-foot-10, 225-pound power forward, the Hawks will be Smith's 10th NBA team. The No. 1 overall pick in the 1995 draft, Smith finished last season with Cleveland, the team that ended the Hawks' season in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Smith saw action in 13 playoff games for the Cavaliers, averaging 5.5 points and 3.7 rebounds. For the season, he averaged 6.5 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting nearly 50 percent (.496) from the floor."

Solid Signing by the Hawks. Should help the front court a bit.

Terry Porter has had two sit-down meetings with Portland president Larry Miller.

Porter told the Portland Tribune that the two meetings "have been good, but very preliminary."

He isn't sure what type of role he'd have with the Trail Blazers, but the front office appears to be the most likely destination.

"If it's with the Blazers, my preference would be to do something that is meaningful for both sides," Porter said. "The front office would be great, but we'll have to wait and see."

For now, Porter will serve as an "ambassador" for the Blazers, as Jerome Kersey has in the past couple of years.

Iranian basketball star Hamed Haddadi isn't happy with his role in Memphis.

"Grizzlies' officials don't let me show my abilities. I have done my best every time I was called up to play for my team, but I don't know why they don't trust me," Haddadi told Mehr News.

"I want to play regularly for the Grizzlies; nevertheless I will have to change my team now since I am a star of the team but sitting on the bench."
