From realgm.com
The Magic could get All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson back for the NBA Finals, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Magic president Bob Vander Weide admitted that the team is trying to decide whether Nelson can return after undergoing shoulder surgery in mid-February.

Nelson wouldn't be in prime condition, but "the chance to get an All-Star point guard on the floor for 15 minutes a game ... you'd have to look at that," Vander Weide said.

As recently as a week and a half ago, the Magic said that Nelson was still out for the entire postseason.

If he can contribute, this makes the Magic much scarier.

What the Magic should do I believe, is have Nelson come off the bench for the first game or two. You don't have time for someone to work out rust in the NBA finals, and a rusty Jameer Nelson > Anthony Johnson or whoever the backup PG is. IF he is back to his form, start his ass in like Game 3.

He won't and he'll only get like 15mpg if he does, sure that will help but still is it worth re-injury or just making the total recovery take even longer? No, it's not.

They have won 12 games without him. I wouldn't disrupt what they have got now, regardless of the fact he was an All Star.

If the Magic pull off a miracle and actually win...he would still get a ring obviously wouldn't he?

Pugz, it really is worth it lol.
If he does re-injure he has a pretty long time to recuperate.

I took that into consideration, that's why I say bring him off the bench and see how it works. I mean Anthony JOhnson didn't have that much of an impact.

I say try it for the first game off the bench, if he's not himself, don't play him the rest of the playoffs. But we are talking about someone who was an All-star this year. Who wouldn't want another All-Star on there team heading into the Finals

Plus we don't even know his condition. He could be feeling really well right now and feel near 100%.

snowy, Eric Snow who did not play 1 single game in the last like 125 nba games would have gotten a ring from the Cavs if they won.. he's on contract and most teams even provide for arena employee's(Pistons do anyways lol)

Guys, Jameer won't play if he does, he's not going to have a huge impact lol.

Yeah I thought so.

This is Jameer Nelson here. It is not like a Dwight Howard/Gasol/Bryant coming back from injury in the Finals. Pugz is right, he wont make a massive impact.

Even if he plays say 25mpg, he will be sooo rusty and leaning how to adjust. He'd only get like 5 and 3 a game if that. Yes that would help but at the same time I wouldn't even want t risk the re-injury for such little help.

If the Lakers had a choice if they could play Bynum in the Celtics series do you think they would have sat him out?

And what if your star PG is ready to comeback at like 90%?

And he isn't exactly a scoring option...Howard, Turkoglu, Lewis, Pietrus, Alston, Lee...hell even Gortat would be expected to put up more shots than Johnson. Johnsons role as a back up is purely so the Magic have 5 on court....

You have to consider the fact that this team has been preparing and playing like Nelson wasn't going to comeback. I cant see them getting into a groove with Nelson on the bench let alone starting within the space of potentially 7 games

Which is why a Nelson return could be a big factor.
If he can play solid minutes off the bench, they are a scarier team.
