Yankees up 1-0 in the top of the second

Hughes is pitching well so far, hope he can keep it up.

Swisher and Cano get back to back HR's!

3-0 Yankees

EDIT: Make that back to back to back HR's! Melky goes deep for another solo shot!

4-0 Yankees

This thread has been awful quiet since the Yankees got on this win streak.

What a great feeling it is to know Verlander is going to pitch like an ace every game now.

Yes he is. The whole rotation has been too, aside from Gally.

Tigers just hit into a triple play lol.
The first time I've ever witnessed that live.

That must be an awful feeling. If the Tigers make the playoffs its because their #2 Edwin Jackson can have good production behind Verlander. The offense will obviously be there and the bullpen will be fine with Zumaya and Rodney.

Only problem is with Matsui being 5th in the batting order, A-Rod isn't getting anything to hit. He's walked more times than I can count in the last few games due to Matsui being a horrendous DH right now. We need Posada, Gardner and Nady back and then we'll really be complete with the line-up.

Since VC15 is here I might as well say what I think the key is to the yankees. Everyone knows they can outslug any team and put up runs quickly. I think it will come down to how deep the staff can pitch quality starts and limit the bullpen from costing them games. More specifically I think Chamberlain will be the key since he becomes that #3 for the yankees. I think he moves ahead of Wang and he will need to win 15+ games.

Just our luck, Victor crushes a line drive that Meche grabs, and then Cabrera is left dry in the middle of 2nd and 3rd for the double play.

Well Joba is pitching tomorrow and has a solid ERA and we all know he can rack up K's like no one's business. But I do agree with the starters needing to be solid over the course of a whole season, my only concern right now is the bullpen.

Thats why I think they have to pitch deep into games and limit the effect the bullpen can have on the game.

I swear if Denis Eckersley calls a fastball cheese one more time, i'll go over to Boston and murder his whole family.
