If this doesn't lead to suspension, I don't know what should. He never attempted to go for the ball, and now this man has a collapsed lung. Pitiful
WallaceCharlotte forward Gerald Wallace has a partially-collapsed lung and a rib injury following a collision in Tuesday night's overtime win over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Bobcats said Wednesday. Wallace was diagnosed as having between 30 and 40 percent of his left lung collapsed and a non-displaced fracture of the fifth rib after being examined at a Los Angeles hospital. He had a chest tube inserted to help restore the lung to functional capacity, but will remain hospitalized for the next 48 hours for observation, the team said. Wallace had scored 15 points before leaving with 2:08 left in the fourth quarter after a flagrant foul by Andrew Bynum knocked him to the floor. Wallace is the Bobcats' second-leading scorer with 16.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

it was a bad foul on Bynum's part, but it wasn't dirty. He went to foul Wallace and make him shoot freethorws in stead of giving up a dunk. look at the score and time. Any player would have done the same. It was an accident. He didn't do it to hurt Wallace, just bad luck. He got the flagrant and the Cats won. I seriously don't think he deserves a suspension. well maybe i've seen players this season do something similar and get suspended. oh well.

i hope wallace is alright. that dude is always getting hurt

Yea JRock, Bynum really meant to give him a gut check... just bad position. G-Force was going full speed and Bynum was too slow to get into position, he tried to turn, but just bad timing on his part.

Either way it is still very dangerous. It does look like a suspension. Anyway, best of luck to ya G-Force.

Yea, a gut check.. He had no intention at all to go for the ball, and it resulted in a pretty bad injury..

anytime you don't play for the ball, you deserve something worse than just a foul. he was INTENTIONALLY fouling him.. if he wanted to stop him from scoring, grab him don't knock him down and hip-check.

most likely he wasn't trying to injure him by his reaction after the fall, but he by far deserves a suspension to remind him and others that this type of play is unacceptable.

and, we know if it was Sheed or Artest, this wouldn't even be a question about suspension

look at the time and score. any player would have done the same. he meant to foul him, just not send him to the hospital. Bynum's not a dirty player. stop being so unfair

no. not any player would do that. so what's more unfair - Bynum getting a suspension or GWall possibly losing not only his career, but his life?

are you serious?
who would want to give a player a dunk rather than free throws with that much time in a close game?

like i said, unfortunate situation. no malicious intent just bad luck
Bynum should be suspended, and thats that.(yeah i changed my position)

i don't think he was maliciously trying to foul him. but obviously the force in which he did foul him was way too hard. I just think that these "hard" fouls are stupid and should result in harsher punishment, regardless of who it is or time, score, etc.
there are several other ways to halt a shot, including just playing better defense

Not really intended for any of you guys, but this just really blows my mind. How many times do people complain about this era's wussy rules of bball and wish there was more contact, YET when it does happen, and it does go old school(this foul is nothing new) all anyone does is complain.

I know that I'm one of few maybe in the world outside of San Antonio that likes the Spurs because of their style of play. Grind it out play hard give nothing easy up type of ball.

Bynum is a huge body. Fact. G-Force is one of the most injury prone players in the league. Fact. G-Force wanted to go for the highlight play putting himself in a position to get hurt as does anyone else that does the same, Bynum is just a big guy. You just said it Jarrod, you don't think it's malicious, he didn't mean to hurt him. I've seen much worse fouls than this in todays game, and no one has gotten hurt from it. G-Force is just unfortunate enough to have this happen to him. Is it a suspension? Today it is. It just happens, it's an unfortunate situation, yes. Oh fcking well. Good luck to you G-Force, no one wants that to happen, or to see it happen, but it's just the risk you take playing these sports.

What if Okafor or Diop did that to Kobe and one of his lungs collapsed. Everyone would be crying for suspension.

Can't treat this any different.

Plus the team I follow knows a few thing about suspensions and fines with our owner and some moments in the past.

This deserves a suspension.

How am I treating this different? I speak up about this when it's not just against the Lakers. Like when Horry decked Nash, that type of hit was worse than this. He decked Nash into the damned scoring table.

I already said this is a suspension, in fact I never said why it shouldn't or wouldn't be.

Wow Mexi. STFU! Get off the Lakers nuts for 5 seconds and admit that was a dirty play and should result in a suspension. Gerald Wallace could have died, and he had NO intention of going for the ball, AT ALL. I realize he didn't mean to send him in the hospital. but he definitely meant to send hi to the floor. If he was smart, he would have went for the ball if he wanted to foul him hard.

Okay then, all I'm wondering is how long do you guys think it should be? I'm not really seeing it here, but in other forums people think Bynum should be gone for the whole year just because of the extent of G-Forces injury.

I don't think it should be THAT long because I obviously don't think he was trying to ruin or even hurt Wallace, but he did, and he didn't go after the ball.

It'll be interesting.

And that's what my argument is based on. Guess it came off rough here because no one here mentioned it, but it was still fresh on my mind. What Bynum did was wussy <Censored> compared to other hard hits that have garnered suspensions. It definitely shouldn't be for the year, or just the regular season, but it should come out as a suspension. I just don't think it should be a super long one because of what was unfortunate enough to happen to G-Force.

It will be a suspension. Sad to see g-wall go out like that. The real shocker is bynum not getting a flagrant 2. It didnt look like he was going for the ball imo. ut bynum isnt a dirty player. Its a real unfortunate situation. I wish g-wall the best.

Greg, c'mon.
I classify a dirty foul as intentionally trying to hurt the opposition. What Bynum did is what just about any other big would have done. He wanted to give Wallace freethrows instead of an easy dunk. coaches stress that stuff all the time. foul him rather than giving up a dunk.

He does deserve a suspension, but it wasnt a dirty play. the results are unfortunate, but it wasnt dirty. like i said, just bad luck

^^^I agree. should've def been a Flag2.

but, because the officials did not grant that, his suspension will be less. I could see 3-7 games
