The Detroit Lions have been granted permission to interview Cowboys offense coordinator Jason Garrett for their head coaching vacancy, a source said. Detroit owner William Clay Ford fired coach Rod Marinelli on Monday after the club became the first team in NFL history to post an 0-16 record. Garrett interviewed with Baltimore and Atlanta last off-season when he was viewed as one of the hottest assistant coaches in the NFL. This was after the Cowboys put up some of the best offensive numbers in franchise history, including 455 points. Garrett is now being criticized for the team's offensive inconsistency in December. The Cowboys finished the regular season ranked 13th in the NFL with 344.5 yards per game and 18th with 362 points.
This is the guy that can turn that team around IMO.
I've been high on this guy for the past few years, they need to get him.

Well I thought Mariucci would turn us around too, then Martz as offensive coordinator, then Marinelli.

So I can't really say I think he will too lol. It's not really the coaching.

Garrett is still unproven -- 1 good year, then a bad year..

DET needs a PROVEN leader

Garret was a GREAT qb in Dallas....

ok now for the real stuff. i think they need more then a coach, they need some solid defensive playmakers and a running back other then Kevin Smith

I think they need a QB more than a backup for Smith.

i've been saying this for 2 years - Kitna did well one season because of Martz system only. but they need help on OL probably more than anything... actually, they need help everywhere.. 0-16

The Lions definitely NEED A QB. Someone like a Matthew Stafford or Bradford will work.

more then a backup? they need someone to start over smith and take the carries and make plays.. let smith come in on 3rd down or get his carries later in the game.. look for detroit to pick up Larry Johnson.. thats my other homer pick of the offseason

Yeah, him and CJ should be the only ones safe right about now.

They definitely won't be replacing Smith. He's got talent and I've seen it and I'm pretty sure he still has more to prove. Also, he had the Detroit Lions offensive line to run through. He deserves credit and they will be drafting a QB. Bradford or Stafford. Not sure which one yet probably Bradford. Who knows they may go opposite so we'll see draft time.

i never said they werent gonna draft a qb. and he didnt even get 1000 yds rushing.. and barry sanders ran behind the detroit lions offensive line that was way worse then the one now.

exactly ... 61 ypg. 8 tds.. that is not a startng runnin backs numbers no matter what kinda line you are running behind.. sanders never had those kinda numbers.. behind a <Censored>ty offensive line..

It's good enough for a rookie season, with a beyond <Censored>ty O-Line...
