The Nuggets and Pistons have agreed in principle on a trade that would send Allen Iverson to Detroit and Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb to Denver, sources have told ESPN.

The deal has not been finalized.

This would be the second time Iverson has been traded in two years. He was dealt by Philadelphia to Denver in December 2006, kicked out of Philly over irreconcilable differences as part of a package that brought Andre Miller to the 76ers.

That makes me sad.
How can you forget about a sexy beast like him?
I think of all the Pistons players as Ogres, rather then sexy beasts.

I don't mean to undermine what Billups has done for the Pistons this decade, but in a purely statistical comparison: well, there is none... The assists are equal, AI is the best scorer in the NBA (maybe not anymore... but scoring 25+ with Carmelo? 3rd most PPG career?), and one of the best at steals.

But at the same time: Without Billups, the Pistons wouldn't have done <Censored> (I used to think Big Ben, but they kept up their losing in the east finals streak after him)... This looks very good on paper, but it just sounds too good for it to end up that way. Ultimately, I think the Pistons might be better off with Billups.

Then again, it's good in the long run because it's a 20 mill expiring, and Rodney Stuckey comes in next year, as a mini-AI. Not as explosive, dominant, or good at defense, but I think they would run an offense the same way, and similar passers, and both combo guards.

This is great news for the Pistons. I think they'll go ahead and run AI at point for the time being, he'll be fine there. RS is still learning and Rip will have to be cleared off the roster for him to start because he's not going to want to come off the bench for AI.

IMO, unless Rip gets traded, Denver wins the trade

I just wanna see what number he takes.

And no, you'll see this trade is win-win for both teams, maybe even helps us a tad more.

They lose their PG, and niether AI or Stuckey are true PG's both are combo guards. Iverson's most successful years was when he played alongside Eric Snow, it would have been smart for Detroit to trade Rip instead IMO

Yes it is.
We gain a player who will slash and get to the line in clutch times, he also isn't scared to put the game/team on his sholders in them times when Billups would fail.

AI gives us something we lacked and that was a pure scorer and slasher.
Also don't sleep on him, he'll get around the same assits Billups would.

.... but the more I think about it I am starting to like the trade for Detroit alot more then I did at first.

-AI makes them better
-20+ mil expiring contract
-finally get their MUCH needed goto guy

I say its a win/win for both teams, with AI they will give the Celtics a run for their money come playoff time.
