Detroit News -
The Minnesota Timberwolves have bought out the remainder of Theo Ratliff's contract, and according to the Detroit News the veteran center will sign with the Detroit Pistons .

The signing cannot take place until Ratliff clears waivers in 48 hours.
I like Dale but Theo gives us a player that is in game shape, and he can still play good D.

Thank you Joe.

That's actually going to be a nice pickup. I would probably want Ratliff over Davis anyway.

Dale will prolly sign with Dallas but who knows.
We get a player who can defend the paint very well. He will be good for 10-15 mins a game.
Plus he now has the chance to retire a Piston, the team that drafted him.

No, but to make you Pistons fans laugh, Flip Murray might be coming to the Mavericks

Trust me Dale's agent said he is close to siging...never said a team Plus it's be reported Dallas has been talking to him. Who cares if Flip goes to the Mavs he'll just hog th ball to make highlights for himself.
You'd be better off getting Dale.

We don't need Davis though, so I don't expect it to go through.

If I was Mark I'd sign Flip and get rid of Eddie Jones since he has not played since the trade. Flip gives us more flexibility. And while were at it we fire Avery Johnson

Yea I thought Eddie was a good sign but I was wrong and I think Mark knows it. But trust me Flip won't help you as much as you think...

Lets get back to topics Theo is going to help the Pistons BIG time.

It looks like the Pistons will indeed fill their 15th roster spot with a familiar face. Only it won't be Dale Davis. The Minnesota Timberwolves placed veteran center Theo Ratliff on waivers Thursday night after agreeing to a buyout settlement on the remainder of his $11.6 million contract. If Ratliff clears waivers in the next 48 hours -- which is almost a given with his salary -- he will sign with the Pistons for the prorated veteran's minimum ($1.3 million).

Ratliff, 34, was drafted by the Pistons in 1995. He only has played 12 games the last two years, but according to all reports, he is healthy again. After missing most of the season with a bulging disc in his back, Ratliff has played in the previous 10 games with the Timberwolves, averaging 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds. Injuries have plagued Ratliff throughout his 13-year career, which is why he has played on six teams --Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Portland, Boston and Minnesota. But when healthy, he is one of the best shot-blockers in the game, averaging 2.67 per game over his career.

Drafted by Doug Collins out of Wyoming, the Rattler, as he was nicknamed, averaged 5.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in two-plus seasons with the Pistons. He led the team in blocks in 1995-96 and 1996-97. He played 24 games with the Pistons in 1997-98 (traded to Philadelphia in the Jerry Stackhouse deal) but still tied for the lead in blocks (55). Ratliff, if he clears waivers, will join the Pistons when they return home Sunday. He is expected to be the fifth big man.
He'll make his return for us against the Sonics(if he sees time this soon)
