This isn't a good trade for the Lakers. Sure they get Gasol, but now what? They're in salary cap hell, they no longer have good pieces to trade for a guy like Kidd, and they lose first round picks in 2008, and 2010 which will be a high pick because Kobe will be gone at this point...

Why would he want to stay? He's made it clear that he'll only be happy with a championship, and this lineup can't get it for him now or next year.

Tell yourself he's staying all you want. When he takes his business elsewhere, don't <Censored> to me...

Lamar and Vlad.
Lamar is looking like a waste of talent he should avrg 20pts a game even with Kobe.
Vlad just hasn't been as good as LA thought he would've been.

Vlads been hurt
Lamar doesnt have to be the no.2 option any more
he could be the third or 4th option which is sure to take pressure off him and will allow him to play a little more freely

we got Pau for a scrub and a rook who didnt even play. we still have our core guys and still have the best bench in the league

we are surely the team to beat in the West. meh, that might be a stretch, but we definitely are gonna be a force

I see a round 2 exit in their future. They won't be able to beat Suns/Mavs/Spurs/and maybe Hornets

They're still no better than the 6th seed. Suns + Mavs + Spurs + Hornets + Nuggets/Jazz (Winner of NW Division)...

we've beaten every single one of those teams this season, except for Dallas, but we were without Bynum. The only one of that bunch that worries me is San Antonio. New Orleans? get them outta here. you know they're a fluke.

there's just no use. no matter what the Lakers do, you will always hate on us. it's fine i guess, but you'll see...

of course, because that 30-point blowout in the beginning of the month, IN NEW ORLEANS WITH THEM FULL STRENGTH means absolutely nothing...

you saw us last night Rip. we gave you trouble and we played without Bynum. Now we got Pau Gasol for basically free and you still dont think we could beat Phoenix?(who we beat twice BTW)

you guys gotta give us some cred man...

This is like an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Mitch Kupchak and Danny Ainge went from being two of the biggest morons as GMs last year to making a run for Executive of the Year this season.

Lakers actually pull off two midseason deals which they never do. And more importantly, they end up getting the better end of the trade on both of those deals.

We went from having the worst starting front courts in the NBA last year with Kwame, Luke, Lamar to now having one of the better ones in the NBA.

And Sasha Vujacic went from being a pathetic joke to finally hitting puberty and looking like he belongs in the NBA,

Props to Mitch for getting this deal done and managing this team. The only downfall is the potential draft picks and Crittenton becoming some crazy good player. Like the next MJ or something. Which won't do them much good since Memphis looks like it wants to go on a downfall.

And the Lakers can't beat the Suns or the Hornets now with Gasol? LOL!!!!!!! I am really, really, really, really, laughing my ass off at that. We owned both of those teams with just Bynum. I'm not saying championship, but to say we can't beat those teams now with Gasol? LOL!LOL!LOL! I'm not even going to bother with that one.

Odom will be going back to his comfortable roll in being the third/fourth option, now he doesn't have to worry about stepping up and living up to expectations. He could play relaxed again like before Bynum went down.

You have Bynum, strictly a low-post player being complimented by Gasol who is more of a finesse player. That's just scary, then you have Lamar who doesn't have to worry about Lamar scoring, he can go back to just facilitating just like hes likes to. Kobe and the floor general Fish in the backcourt. Do I really need to go on in more heated and long debates with you guys about the Lakers?

My knock is that it might take time for this team to gel especially when Bynum comes back, he'll have to get used to Gasol getting touches while they're on the floor. The depth of this powered up bench was hardly effected with the loss of Kwame and Crittenton... Crittenton who was the 3rd/4th guard coming off the bench, and Kwame who only deserves to be in the d-league. When this unit gets it together. It's going to be a good run.

Ahh, its good to be back on SI.

Lol Mexi, you're acting like what happens in the regular season actually matters. What does matter is, the Lakers can't win in the playoffs. 1-12 in their last 3 playoff series. I'm not looking at this season, because I know unbiased that the Lakers still aren't elite in the West. In the future, this trade absolutely blows for you guys, but I guess you'll just have to wait to see that.
