Chicago Tribune -
One general manager on the periphery of the Kobe Bryant talks says he believes the "dark horse" to make a deal with the Lakers is the Washington Wizards . The consensus is the Wizards have hit a plateau, but have the star power in Gilbert Arenas to make a deal.

Arenas is talking about opting out of his contract after this season. He's from Los Angeles and has become a star, one of the league's highest-scoring players and an engaging personality who would embrace the Hollywood scene. He would meet the Lakers' demands for an All-Star player if they trade Bryant.

"Watch out for them," the general manager said, meaning the Wizards.

Gil going back home. I can see that happening cause hes going to opt out at the end of the season anyway. But yeah, I think Washingston might have to throw in a few other pieces.

I don't even see Kobe in blue, either it's Chicago or he's staying where he is.

Kobe and Gilbert wouldn't work. Unless both changed their feelings for each other and spread the ball out more.

I skimmed it. I thought they meant Kobe and Gilbert together. Not for each other. Screw that. Gilbert is the 2nd biggest ballhog in the NBA, I don't think he'd be that good in LA

Arenas isn't a ballhog, he's just good, so he shoots alot, and he shoots well

Behind Carmelo...did you not see the Nuggets or the USA team this season?

Kobe toned it down alot this season compared to others. He ballhogged alot less than he normally did. He would do it when they were down and up to the point where they were safe.

This is probably the one Kobe trade I don't mind if it happened. I wonder if he would accept. Would Jamison and Stevenson and a few others be enough.

Gil/Jamison/Stevenson is too much for Kobe

oh crap know what i just realized?
The reason the Wizards traded Kwame was because he and Gilbert HATED each other.
Kwame almost got to the point where he was gonna kill Gil(not literally)
If you recall, in '05 that was the reason the Wizards sent Kwame home in the playoffs

as long as Kwame is here, Gil aint coming
maybe next year as a FA when Kwame, and Kobe for that matter, more than likely are gone

Maybe Kwame would be in the deal. Something like Gil/Haywood/???? for Bryant/Kwame?

Doubt Kwame will be in the deal. Remember the Wizards drafted him and traded him off because he sucks so much. This would be great to have Gilbert back in Cali. I could see him more when the Lakers play the Warriors. :)

and becasue he HATED Gilbert, and a lot of stuff happened in the locker rooms
Kwame is 9mil of expiring contract
as long as Gil is gone, i'm sure they'd take him back
