Individual Player Award Predictions
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers)
Coach of the Year: Rick Adelman (Houston Rockets)
Defensive player of the year: Emeka Okafor (Charlotte Bobcats)
Rookie of the year: Al Horford (Atlanta Hawks)
Most Improved Player: Louis Williams (Philadelphia 76er's)
Points per game leader: Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers)
Rebounds per game leader: Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic)
Assists per game leader: Steve Nash (Phoenix Suns)
6th Man award: Kenyon Martin (Denver Nuggets)
Individual Player Award Predictions
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers) - Kobe Bryant is not only the best player in the league hands down but the last 2 years he has been screwed. Even Shaquille O'Neal has said this on TNT. If you don't give the man a MVP award it may tarnish his legacy.

Coach of the Year: Rick Adelman (Houston Rockets) - The Houston Rockets look the most impressive to me. From what I see Adelman's offense is astonishing his own team. Just think of Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, and Yao Ming all playing on the same floor. I guess the attention has mainly been looked at Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce but a few years ago everyone knew Steve Francis.

Defensive player of the year: Emeka Okafor (Charlotte Bobcats) - Emeka Okafor has been stunning on Rebounding and Blocking. He has shown us athletic ability and his ability to bring in his 10 points a night. If Emeka doesn't get hurt this season I think he will be the Defensive Player of the Year. I can possibly see him bringing in a load of double-doubles.

Rookie of the year: Al Horford (Atlanta Hawks) - Everyone is looking at Kevin Durant but lets not forget who had one of the least impressive workouts before the draft. Al Horford is the man in this position. The kid is already built in an NBA frame and is an athletic beast. He will bring in boards and work the post well on Offense. Just because your picked third don't mean your not as good as Oden and Durant. I mean look at Chris Paul. The other three competers for this award will be Seattle's Jeff Green who will get alot of minutes because of his versitility on the floor at the guard and foward position, Clipper's Forward Al Thorton who is already built and ready to contribute at this level, and Seattle's Kevin Durant because the NBA has to always give the trophy to the fan favorite.

Most Improved Player: Louis Williams (Philadelphia 76er's) - Louis Williams will be the league Most Improved Player. Louis will have his time to shine this year just like his high school rival Monte Ellis. Louis Williams is an undersized 2 guard with a handle that looks like AI's. If Andre Miller goes down I see Louis stepping into the starting picture because of his great performances in the NBDL and Summer League this year. The last player who came out of two impressive performances in those leagues was Gerald Green/ If Louis Williams doesn't get the trophy maybe Minnesota's guard Sebastian Telfair might be in the picture. Rumor is Whitman wants him to start this season but if he doesn't find a way to get there he'll be stuck selling his new rap CD in Greece.

Points per game leader: Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers) - Hands down it is Kobe Bryant. Last year Kobe scored 3 less points and averaged an assist more. Kobe is the most talented scorer the league has ever seen besides Michael Jordan. Add three more scoring titles in a row and maybe he'll find his way out of the crumbling city of gold.

Rebounds per game leader: Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic) - Dwight Howard is the most athletic Center now touching the basketball. Dwight reminds me of a young Shaquille O'Neal but with more muscel and athletic ability. Dwight's hops and beastly body frame should be able to box out the paint allowing him to average about 12 rebounds per game.

Assists per game leader: Steve Nash (Phoenix Suns) - Steve Nash is nastiest passer in the game. I still see him getting this award for another 2-3 more years. The way Steve can watch lanes and make illusive passes make him the best passer to probably play this game.

6th Man award: Kenyon Martin (Denver Nuggets) - Kenyon Martin is such an absolute guess for me. I really don't see who I can give this to right now. As of right now George Karl has Nene starting and Kenyon coming off the bench. After his Microfracture surgery K-Mart has came back with some sort of vengence. He is looking like he never even had this surgery. Marcus Camby said he is still dunking like he was going over Tim Duncan. All I can say is if he comes off the bench following Nene he can bring home this award. He can Dunk, Score, Rebound, Pass a little, and play legit defense to bringhis career back and maybe help his team get past the first round of the playoffs.

So? In order to be an MVP, your team actually has to be good. You can't win the MVP if your team is the 7th seed, no matter how good your stats are. Kobe had a career year in 2005-06, and came in fourth in the voting. Get your lips off his ass...

He would if he had a supporting cast, which he just doesn't have. It's as simple as that...

Because he always talks shyt to people this is a topic where its our own opion but yet he will tell someone that there wrong.

The Lakers arent a good team but if someone thinks Kobe will win mvp then they can say that.

But then CC will say there wrong he won't win it.

And then CC will say like quit kissing Kobe's ass.

The Lakers aren't as bad as you think they are...
They all improved, and are gonna be better this year than last

I don't think you should have to be on a good team to win MVP. I see it as if you're taken off of your team, how much of a difference your team makes without you. that's why it's called Most "Valuable" Player.

Picture if Kobe's Lakers went 41-41 this season and he put up stats like: 35 PPG/5 RPG/7 APG...
and if Dirk's Mavs went 61-21 and he put up stats like 23 PPG/7 RPG/5 APG...

who would win the MVP?

according to the NBA, not Kobe.

I'm not favoring Kobe in particular, but anyone who is valuable enough to make their record almost 10 games worse without them, then that player ought to be worthy of MVP.

perhaps they should have separate awards, both MVP and MOP (Most Outstanding Player).

Then Steve Nash should've won the MVP last year, because I believe the Suns were 1-4 without him while the Mavs were 4-0 without Dirk. You can't base it off those 5 games that the player misses.

You can say if you take Kobe off the Lakers they lose 10 less games, but It'd be much different if they were going from 50 to 40 than 40 to 30.....

I see it this way, the award is the Most Valuable Player, Nash and Kobe are equally important to their teams, I think Kobe should have won it at least once in the last two years, but the NBA see's it different the MVP award to them is the best player on the best team, which isnt right, IMO.

It's not necessarily the best team, but the idea is that winning is proof. Kobe Bryant might put up good numbers, but if they're not winning, then what's the point?

i think you summed it up perfectly. I think I agree with that statement, even though getting to the playoffs by yourself is quite an accomplishment

Before 99 your team record didnt even matter as long as you put up outstanding numbers. Thats what Shaq said. Kobe deserves MVP hands down. Everybody knows he has been jewed the last 2 years. The guy is breaking records no one has touched in almost 30 years. I guess the MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS didnt set those records either. One.
