One way or the other, the NBA is too quick to weaken its product, imo. I don't think a single player should have been suspended so far in these playoffs, with the exception of Calathes, but that's an entirely different rule.

Not twisting any words. Just merely pointing out how many non truths your inserting into this thread.

You do realize that if they let fighting go unpunished then it justs reinforces the notion that NBA players are "thugs," right? The exact thing that the league has been trying to fight since the Malice at the Palace. It's not the era of Riley's Knicks and the Bad Boys anymore, the league's culture has changed.

Non-truths? Its common sense. If an act goes unpunished, it becomes more likely to be repeated. Its basic psychology.

This here is the non truth. Let me point out the two things that stand out to me from your comments.

The first being something you and a number of other people keep harping on. "Meaningless game, meaningless game, meaningless game." What the media or team personal relations staff says is irrelevant, it has NOTHING to do with losing the "meaningless" game, and EVERYTHING to do with losing the pay check for that game. We can say they're millionaires, what's a couple thousand to them? But every year there are a number of players in every professional league that show us that every dollar matters . When you hit them in their pocket book, that's what they care about. Considering Randolph is a 16.5M dollar player, you could be sure he'll lose a couple hundred thousand. What he would lose from being suspended for a "meaningless game" is more than the NBA gives out to every team that advances past the first round, to be split amongst their entire roster. So no, these acts would absolutely not be going unpunished. And saying OKC would start head hunting for revenge because Zach Randolph didn't get suspended is just a moronic statement. In the heat of the moment, no player from either side reacted to the "punch" (if that's even what you want to consider a punch nowadays) thrown by Randolph, and they saw it, what on earth would make you suspect they'd look for revenge a couple days later? And no, in other circumstances players wouldn't be looking for revenge either, because it wouldn't be a punishable act. Not to mention I'm sure at some point you would lose a game in the playoffs if it happened more than once.

Secondly, and this is something I see people talk about in all leagues, the commissioner is not the person who hands out fines, suspensions, etc. That's the President of Basketball Operations, Rod Thorn isn't doing his job any differently now that Adam Silver is the commish compared to how he did it when Stern was in office . But that's not really the point either, as I agree with you that George not being suspended is the right call. But I believe you have to have some consistency in what you call. If you strive to be consistent, and judging by past history, that should have resulted in a suspension. If not for George, Rasual Butler surely shouldn't be available to play right now. The league has suspended before for this very action.

But yeah, you're just gonna disagree with me again, so no need to keep this going.

I never said Thunder players would do anything. I said more likely in both of my statements. If the Thunder are up big late in the game you don't think they might take a cheap shot at Randolph if they see that a suspension wouldn't happen until game 1 of the regular season? A player isn't going to have this immediately on their mind, but it's certainly in the back of their mind and it can play a role. Your reactions in the "heat of the moment" are random, but also have to do with what has happened in the past tense and what you remember.

You strive to be consistent, but considering the wording of it, it was constructed to be interpreted on a case by case basis.

Its Adam Silver's league now, even with similar people in supporting positions who make initial decisions, they act in his best interest and need his approval.

The East is so irrelevant. No team is going to beat Miami. They may take two games, but no team is beating Miami four times in seven games. The team Miami plays in the ECF's will be worse than every team the Heats Finals opponent will have played in the first three rounds.
