The Yankees have taken a long look at Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano, who has a full no-trade clause in his contract.
New York is in town to battle the Cubs this weekend at Wrigley Field, which has enhanced speculation.
The right-hander has said that he'd like to remain with the Cubs through his contract, which expires in 2012, but Bruce Levine of ESPN.com writes that playing for a contender like the Yankees might change Zambrano's mind.
The Yankees had top advisors to general manager Brian Cashman watching Zambrano during Chicago's recent 10-game road trip.
