And one good season doesn't constitute one player to be named the best. You have to put up the numbers to warrant being the best on a consistent basis. You probably still think that Peyton is the best QB in the NFL, if not, you feel he's the second best. He clearly wasn't a top 2 QB in the NFL this past season.

And I'm fine with you saying that, he had a poor season for his standards.

Clearly last year WIlson out pitched Rivera though, when obviously all time Rivera is the better pitcher.

Don't see how Wilson clearly out pitched Rivera. Mariano had a better ERA (albeit not by much) and a much better WHIP, which also means that Wilson was getting pretty lucky and that he was allowing at least one baserunner on base every time he took the mound to close a game, which isn't a good thing. He's pretty lucky he didn't blow a lot more saves.

Overpaid big time for him, especially considering his last stint as the 8th inning guy wasn't very solid. In Atlanta I dreaded the 8th and 9th innings worked by Soriano and Gonzalez. Gonzalez would walk the world as Soriano would come in to give up the horrifying game tying home runs. Its a decent signing at best for Cashman who had the biggest fail of a Yankees offseason in a while.

He should be a good reliever but I wouldn't be surprised if those home runs he gave up in Atlanta start popping back up again with even more frequency in that ball park.
