Players just don't care enough about the WBC to root for the USA, personally
Like why are Trout or Harper not in it? Kershaw, Arrietta, Sale, etc?
 
And its just not a big deal. Like these guys don't play baseball to be in the WBC. Swimmers and gymnasts train to perform in the Olympics, and baseball and basketball players don't because they have more important professions. 
 
I'm out here rooting for my favorite players that are in the tournament. For Mexi's Dodgers, its either Jensen and Netherlands or Gonzo and Mexico. For me, its Xander and Netherlands. Maybe if Kershaw and Mookie played for USA we'd feel differently, but we're gonna root for our guys.

I'll admit the team isn't the best representation of our country, but I still support them and thank them for playing for our country.

But this US team is boring as hell

USA is as far in this classic as they've ever been.  They play Team Japan next -- a very tough draw, but what do you expect in the semi-finals?

I wouldn't harp about Chase Utley.  What separates him from Hosmer or Kinsler?  Sounds to me like you want the players you support.
