^ Disagreed. Assets are assets. Philly is a more extreme case but that's what they're doing

A lot of what the Cavs have done has been helped by extreme luck, but along with sucking they've made nice trades

But when you're collecting assets you don't care if you suck now as long as you think these assets will turn you into a contender down the line

Teams like Minnesota have sucked and ended up with pieces that can't net them anything.

But along with sucking, they've kept flexibility and for the most part didnt cripple themselves with foolish free agency moves (Jack was the only one, and it did take an asset to move him). Stayed the course, always looked to get involved in trades as a 3rd team facilitating to pick up any extra assets and absorbed large money, short term contracts to pick up other assets. They fucked up on a draft pick here and there, but executed a nice rebuild aside from rushing it a bit with the Jack signing and the pointless Deng trade

Cleveland wasn't collecting assets, they were legitimately trying to win.

Obviously lucky that LeBron grew up in Akron and not Milford, Deleware, but they had pieces and cap flexibility to add a boarderline all-star or two. You'll see them add another really good player with Haywood's non guaranteed contract and the Memphis pick next year

They were until last year. But they didn't blow any assets the previous off-season trying to win. They gave Bynum a rich, non guaranteed, one year deal and made the Jack mistake. Not as if they seriously tried by exchanging young players for vets

I think this will be really good for Bennett. I'm not sure he ever lives up to being the # 1 pick but  I could see a 12/7 year for him.

Do y'all think Cleveland will come out of the East this year?

Will the NBA allow them to wear jerseys that say "Bulls If Healthy"?

Everyone seems to forget the injury history of Kyrie and Love. Varejao, too.

Then Cavs because everyone is saying Bulls if healthy because they question D Rose, Cavs still have LeBron even if Love, Varejao, and Kyrie go down and that's good enough to finish in the top 4 in the East.

I'd argue that the Bulls with just Rose out would be a bigger threat than the Cavs with LeBron and nothing else.
